You feel her gracious personality in the way she welcomes callers, smiling a cheerful greeting, offering china cups of steaming tea, a plate of her deliciously rich raspberry tarts, and - the best welcome of all - her attentiveness to their lives. You see her patience and gentleness in the way she teaches and cares for her children, reading them their very first stories and creating new games to amaze and educate their quick, young minds. You hear her intelligence in her delightful conversations with others and in her sharing of her varied hobbies, as she discusses the latest in literature and science and tells of her progress in photography and oil-painting. Her charmingly decorated home, refreshing gardens, and fine style of dress all tell of her beauty, but the truest beauty comes from the Victorian lady's heart.

A woman of elegance and excellence, her sparkling eyes, merry laughter, and compassionate soul attest to who she is - a lady in the best sense of the word. She adores romance, takes pleasure in spontaneous adventures and dearly cherishes her faith. She tends to the needs of others, taking baskets of food and other necessities to those less fortunate than herself. Her chums find comfortable nooks in her kitchen, telling their most interesting stories - real or make believe, depending on the action of the day - in exchange for her amused reaction and a tasty treat. Ready for a new experience, she sets out on a fishing expedition or takes up the amusing new sport of bicycling.

The Victorian lady's legacy is one of giving love and joy, compassion and hope to those around her. In the old-fashioned flowers of her garden, in the merriment of her much anticipated afternoon teas, in her gentle whispers of love reserved only for her beloved, her virtues shine brightly.
