Things that he likes to do besides racing: Racing seems to take up all of my spare time. I guess the typical things: fishing, hanging around friends, shooting the breeze.
Future Plans: Would eventually like to make it to a regional touring series.
Goals for the year: Win another championship. Secure more sponsors. Gain enough support to move to a higher class.
Opinion on the old speedway closing soon and everything moving to the Superspeedway: I don’t race at either, but I always hate it when a track closes down.
What are some of his responsibilities at the shop? Whose?
What types of image do you portrayal to your fans on and off the track? I try to keep a cool head.
Who have you patterned yourself most like: Can’t really say that I’ve patterned myself after him, but I will always admire Alan Kulwicki and how he managed to overcome so many things that were against him.
Most Memorable race/racing achievement: I was battling for the lead, only to be ran off the high side of the track. Got a bad call and had to restart from the rear. I passed the car that ran me off earlier in the race and another car as they tangled on the last lap and went on to win the race. Winning the 2000 Championship in my class.
Advice to young drivers starting out: Get your friends involved, so you have some help. Get experience.
What kind of streetcar do you drive: 90 Ranger, 95 Z71, and a 89 Prelude
Being a race car driver, how many speeding tickets have you gotten from driving too fast in your streetcar? 0, knock on wood
Is it hard to go slower in your streetcar? Going slower isn’t the problem. Remembering that I can’t give that car in front of me a tap to get him to move over is.
What other race drivers do you hang out with at the track? Usually people from my hometown.
How did you get involved with your sponsors: It was a combination of having some inside help and them hearing my past record.
