The Forgotten One: Chapter Two

By: Author By Night

(A/N: Sorry for not updating sooner. This was due to... let's just say

difficulties, which I hope have been solved. I'd rather not get into it.

Anyway, enjoy!)

Disclaimer: Warner Brothers and JK Rowling own Harry Potter. I am simply borrowing them for creative and recreational purposes. The only ones I own - so far in this chapter, anyway- are Maria, Roz and Courtney.

Ginny was now exhausted; She realized she was nearby Hogsmeade. She crept into a cave, and laid down, tired. Then she was aware of two yellow eyes staring. She looked, and saw a Grim.

Ginny gasped. But then she realized it was a plain dog- or was it? There was something to it that almost seemed human. "Ridiculous." Ginny murmured. She walked to the Dog, and patted it. "Do you mind if I stay here?" She supposed she sounded young, but she did not really care. The dog just sat, staring in a look of horror. Ginny stared. How can dogs look like they are in horror?

Ginny sat back down, leaning her head against the cave wall. Before she knew it, she was sound asleep.

She woke up, but instead of a Dog, she saw a man. She stared; He stared back. She knew instantly.

In a horrified voice, Ginny whispered "Sirius Black."

Harry stared at his letter in horror. "Ginny's missing? How? Why?" He said.

He stared out the window.

Ginny and Harry had never been close. Sure, Ginny had been in love with him since his second year (maybe even before, Harry thought wryly), but other than that, they'd never talked much. Even when Harry had saved her, it had actually maybe even made them further apart.

But Harry was still worried. Not only was running around with no place to go not safe, and not only was it making some of his closest friends distraught, but now that Voldemort had risen, it was practically suicide. And Ginny was from a family Voldemort would love to get- they worked against him (or would work against him) and were for Muggle-borns.

Harry murmured to absolutely nobody, "Ginny, watch yourself."

"Sirius Black." Ginny spat again. The man walked towards her. Ginny

shrieked. "No!"

Sirius just stared. "I'm innocent." He said quietly.

Ginny stared. Innocent? "How?" She said. "Did someone use Polyjuice Potion?"

Sirius shook his head. "Worse. If only... if you..."

Ginny groaned. "Look, just kill me and get it over with."

Sirius sighed. "I DO NOT want to kill you. Just the opposite. Now... Ron's sister?"

Ginny's eyes widened. She was getting scared, and her "brave girl" act was fading. "What makes you think that?"

Sirius said "I have my ways. Now, listen. I'll explain to you how I am

innocent."

Ginny shook her head. "Not before I get the Ministry," Ginny started to run, but stopped. She didn't know why, but she did; She realized something. He knew her brother… she'd seen them disappear... her second year…

She walked in. "You are innocent, aren't you? That's why my second year, you escaped? My brother, Harry and Hermione helped you!"

Sirius nodded. "I owe you the truth." He started to tell her some story, about his friend convincing James Potter to switch from Sirius to him, without telling anyone, and then betraying them… then killing other people... and then Ginny realized something.

"He cut his finger off, and turned into a Rat? And you nearly captured him?"

Sirius said "Yes. He escaped… the traitor."

Ginny said with realization "It was Scabbers, Ron's rat wasn't it?"

"It certainly was, much to your brother's dismay" Sirius said.

Ginny shook her head. "I can't believe he did that. Well, what about

Professor Lupin? And Harry, Ron and Hermione?"

Siriuss looked tired. "They wouldn't take their word for it; and nobody

trusts werewolves."

"But it's not fair!" Ginny exclaimed.

"Life's not fair, girl. Now, listen- what's your name?"

"Ginny. Well, really Virginia, but I don't let anyone call me that."

"Okay. Listen, Ginny, I don't know if this is a good idea. You aren't very safe. Besides, I am sure that everyone is worried. Why are you here?"

Ginny told her whole story.

Sirius said, "Well, I know you are unhappy, but I am sure that people are worried. Besides, where is there to go?"

"Oh, great, now you're lecturing me?" Ginny snapped. Sirius' face hardened.

"I am not. But I have seen what happens when people get scared, okay? When people do stuff? It happened to my best friend!" Sirius turned away, and Ginny felt awful.

"I'm sorry, Mr. Black..."

Sirius shook his head. "It's okay. I didn't mean to get upset. Oh, and call me Sirius- well, Snuffles."

"Snuffles?" Ginny asked. Sirius grinned. "A code name." He explained. His face grew grim again. "Now, back to my point. I am going to an old friends- you will remember Professor Remus Lupin. He can help you out, for sure. But I don't want you on the run. No matter what."

Ginny threw her hands up. 'Fine, fine." She said. Maybe she'd convince Lupin to let her live there.

Sirius nodded. "We'll leave right now."

Sirius transformed into a Dog; and he and Ginny left.
