The Not-So-Daily Prophet

1/1/02 - I'm not even going to waste time by offering excuses. *sigh* Well, HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE! It's officially 2002. How exciting. Also very exciting, for those of you who haven't heard, J.K. Rowling was married the day after Christmas ( Dec. 26, 2001 for the slower ones) to her boyfriend, anesthesiologist Dr. Neil Murray at their house in Perthing. I'm sure we all wish them a lifetime of happiness (filled with much prolific writing, naturally). Thanks to my local paper for the news. :)

10/21/01 - Goodness, I have been slacking, haven't I? I *am* sorry, but I won't waste your time with excuses, though I have enough to fill entire archives of fanfiction. :) Anyway, I thought I should drop you guys a line because this is a momentous day: The Quidditch Pitch's first birthday! Yay! I'm amazed we've made it this far. HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
6/22/01 - Aloha guys! And happy summer! I'm sorry I've been lying down on the job lately, but I've been dealing with exams, the end of school, and being out of town (in a wedding in NYC). *sigh* Always a bridesmaid, never a bride... but as I'm only sixteen, I guess that's alright. :) I've made major updates in the Quotes section and some in The Library. Go check them out before I waste anymore of your time!
5/08/01 - Oh my everyone, it has been awhile! I'm so sorry I haven't been updating lately - there is a very good reason for this. Several, actually, involving my life getting incredibly busy as the school year winds down and exams approach; but the most important reason for my absence is the repeated breaking of my computer. Three seperate times it has been taken into repair shops, sent back to Mac and all sorts of exciting things. I know I'm very, very behind and it will take me some time to catch up - I have lots of new things to upload, so please bear with me. Exams are still on the horizon and real life is still being very time consuming. Thanks so much for your patience.

~Anne

4/16/01 - Hello again, guys! If you saw the notice on the main page you know that I'll be gone for the next few days. It's my Spring Break and I'm going on a brief vacation (as it's so close to summer). I've made quite a few updates around the site today, though, so they should keep you busy while I'm gone. There are new stories in the stacks, some new quotes, and even new S.P.E.W. links that have been submitted! I've also added the Match of the Month feature. I took down the Easter greeting - did you find all the eggs? I hope you all had a lovely holiday; I know I did! I'll "see" you all when I get back. Until then...

~Anne

4/11/01 - Hi everyone! Well, thanks for being patient and bearing with me as I reformatted the QP behind the scenes. I know it doesn't seem like it to you, but it made a trememndous difference in the organization of the site, and hopefully now I'll be able to make updates more frequent and a bit quicker! The new formatting required address changes for nearly every story's link, so if you find a broken link (in the stacks or anywhere else) please help me out by emailing me at annesparkles@hotmail.com and letting me know! I'll be continuing to update in the week after Easter (it's Spring Break for me) when I can, but all the major changes that shut down sections of the site are done. Thanks again for your patience! Hope you all have a lovely Easter!

~Anne

3/18/01 - Hello again guys! Well let's see, what's been going on at the QP since I last checked in? Hmmm... well, there have been various updates in the fanfiction section and we've added a new author, with more coming! The authors that have been updated say so next to their name in the stacks section of the library - hopefully that will be helpful. :)

I've taken down the St. Patrick's Day Greeting and I hope you all had a wonderful St. Patty's, be you Irish or otherwise. :) I'm also taking down the poll on the front page which has finally recieved a hundred votes! Yay! The results were as follows:

Q: Who will replace Moody as the new Defense Against The Dark Arts professor?

Your responses:

Remus Lupin - 37 votes

Arabella Figg - 13 votes

Severus Snape - 11 votes

Mundungus Fletcher - 3 votes

Oliver Wood - 1 vote

Albus Dumbledore - 12 votes

(Madame) Poppy Pomfrey - 15 votes

Fleur Delacour - 8 votes

Thank you all for voting, as always it's great to get feedback from you guys! I'll be replacing the main poll with a new one as soon as possible. I guess that's about it for now. Toodles! ~Anne

3/05/01 - Hi everyone! Well, I just thought I'd drop in to let you all know that I set up a whole new format for the Locker Room - it's now an 'ezboard' and I hope it'll be easier for you all to use - so please do use it!!

Also, on another note, I have a confirmed date (thanks to Lizzy) that the release of "Quidditch Through the Ages" and "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them", the Harry Potter school-books, are due to be released on March 12. Give your local bookstore a call and reserve your copies!

2/28/01 - Okay you guys - it's the last day of February (I can hardly believe it!) and Ash Wednesday - the beginning of Lent which follows Mardi Gras - so I've taken down the Mardi Gras greeting - for those of you who took the poll, here are the results:

Q: Who would make the funniest King and Queen of Mardi Gras?

Draco and McGonagall - 7 votes

Crabbe and Goyle - 3 votes

Parvati and Moody - 1 vote

All the rest - 0 votes

Thanks to everyone who voted!

Just so you all know, the two books J.K. Rowling is writing for charity "Quidditch Through The Ages" and "Fantastic Beasts And Where to Find Them" are due to be released sometime in mid-March, around St. Patrick's day, so keep a look-out for them at your local bookstore! ~Anne

2/16/01 - Hello everyone! I've taken down the Valentine's Greeting - I hope you all enjoyed it - and the poll results stand thus:

Ron & Hermione - 61 votes

Harry & Hermione - 6 votes

Harry & Ginny - 3 votes

Crabbe & Goyle - 1 vote

Other - 1 vote

Harry & Cho - 0 votes

Ceric & cho - 0 votes

Hermione & Draco - 0 votes

Draco & Pansy - 0 votes

So now we know what you guys feel about couplings in the HP books - frankly I was surprised that Harry/Hermione got as few as they did - a real victory for R/H "shippers"! Not to mention Crabbe and Goyle - c'mon! You know you love them!

On a seperate note: I've divided the "Musings of a Muggle and a Few Quick Quotes" into "Musings of a Muggle" - which is the same, minus the quotes; and "A Few Quick Quotes" - which is all the quotes from the old page and a few new ones. You guys are also welcome to submit any of your favorite quotes. you can read all about both pages on the Marauder's Map or just go take a look! And now, before I become any more annoying, I'll take my leave... G'night!

~Anne

2/09/01- Yes! I've finished changing the format of the Authors' pages! Aren't you all excited? Thrilled? Amazed? Well, I am! Hopefully this will make the fanfiction a bit more easy-access/user friendly. I've also added links to the main page at the bottom of each author's page - they are listed as "Home". I'm working on putting those little links on every page throughout the whole site, but it'll take a while. I really appreciate how patient you're all being! And just a little side note - thanks to everyone who's signed the guest book! If you haven't (or even if you have) please do! ~Anne
2/04/01- I just wanted to let you guys know that I'm working on changing the format of all the authors' pages in the Stacks section of the Library, so you may notice changes as you check out your favorite authors' profiles. Hopefully it'll make everything a bit easier to read and more user friendly! ~Anne
1/31/01- Hello everyone! We've got a new set of co-authors here at the Quidditch Pitch and as always you can find they're author page link in the stacks. Everyone give a warm welcome to Honeychurch & Lallybroch and go read their fabulous (and hysterical) trilogy The Loo! It's well worth your time and an absolute riot, not to mention adorable! ~Anne
1/20/01- Hey guys! Guess what? I have actual news! I saw a link on HarryPotterRealm.com to a Singapore Newspaper that told about Warner Bros.'s lawyers sending emails to two young webmistresses (in Singapore and Britain) who had the words "Harry Potter" in their url addresses. Apparently, they were told, in no uncertain terms, to not use the name or they would face legal actions. You can check out a site about this "Potter War" by clicking the icon. ~Anne
1/16/01- Hi everyone! I just dropped in to let you know that we have a new author in the fanfiction (stacks) section! Give a warm welcome to Arabella! Two parts of her series "HQoW" (which is most definitely worth reading!) are already up, so go have a look!
1/15/01- Hello again! There have been lots of updates to the fanfiction section, so if you haven't seen them yet, do go have a look! On another note, if you somehow missed the notice on the main page, I finally got a new guestbook! And it works! Unfortunately, I lost all the old entries, but there is now a "review a story" option in there. If you signed the old gb (and even if you didn't) I'd be eternally grateful if you would sign this on as well!

Also, The Quidditch Pitch has a sister site: Potter Prophet, which can be accessed from the main page and the Platform Nine and Three-Quarters page.

Just one last thing, before I let you guys go and explore all the new stuff: I'm thinking of making some sort of "Story of the Week" award. There would be a "Story of the Week" page in the Library and then on the author's page I would also put up something (not sure what, yet) next to the title. It's completely up to you guys, but I know the QP has been gathering a bit of fanfiction, and this might be a neat way to help you choose what you want to read. (However, I'm of the opinion that *all* the stories here are worth your time.) It's up to you guys, so let me know! (email - annesparkles@hotmail.com) ~Anne

1/6/01- Hi everyone! I'm sorry I haven't been updating as frequently as I'd like, but unfortunately I just don't have the time. :sigh: However, instead of very frequent updates I have been working on the site itself very hard recently. There have been a couple new authors added to the fanfiction section, the fanart gallery has been updated, and the background color on the main page has been changed (apparently it was making some people's heads hurt- I'm sorry!). Instead of having a fanfiction link on the main page it has been moved to be under "The Library" under the satcks. The Restricted section of the library will house essays and commentaries on controversial topics in the HP world- /go there for more info. Also, the links section has been renamed "Platform Nine and Three- Quarters". Unfortunately the guest book is *still* broken, but I'm still trying to fix that! Thanks for being so patient, everyone! ~Anne
1/1/01- HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE! Well, it's been 2001 for just under a half-hour and I can hardly believe it! 2000 just flew by and lots of wonderful stuff happened- far from least being the creation of "The Quidditch Pitch". Awww... stop groaning- you know you love it!

On a functional note: I have some pictures and other chapters of various fics to post, but I'm having trouble uploading them at the moment- as soon as I can, though, they'll be up!

12/21/00- 'Allo, 'Allo everyone! I'm just popping in to say hi and to tell you all that the very substantial chapter 14 of "When Love and Hate Collide" has indeed just been uploaded! Do go read it- it's simply fabulous! Okay, I'm gushing now, so I'll stop. Four days till Christmas! ~Anne
12/19/00- Ahhhh... Okay, now everyone breath a sigh of relief with me now that my exams are over! Christmas break starts today and you all know what that means- more time for fanfic and the Quidditch Pitch! I've just uploaded the last chapter of "Romeo, Romeo..." under my author page, and the next chapter of "When Love and Hate Collide" is on it's way to Maverick's! Yay! Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays, everyone! ~Anne
12/2/00- Wow! I feel so guilty! Almost a whole month without an update on the News page! Bad Anne! I haven't got much to report expect for the fact that finals are rapidly approaching and are about to overtake my already overstuffed life with a vengeance. (In plain English there probably will be few updates/changes to the site until around the 19th- the last day of exams! Yay!) I haven't heard about any new news on the HP front, but if anyone does you know how to let me know- email me and I'll be glad to post it and credit you! I have been adding bits and pieces to the fanfiction section, so you might want to check it out, and please don't forget to sign the guestbook/message board while you're here! Thanks and good-bye for awhile- just remember, I'll be back! ~Anne
11/3/00 - I'm baaaaaaaaccccccckkkkkk! Wait! Come back! Actually, I just wanted to let you know that I finally got all the current chapters of Fa A Bhialainn posted- go read them under Veralidaine's section of the fanfiction page! Bye bye, now!
11/2/00 - Wow! Long time, no update, huh? Sorry about that, but a lot has been going on since my last one. For one I turned 16 last week and I just got my driver's license today! Yay! I was totally thrilled (still am, actually). I have made major additions to the fanfiction section: so check that out! As well as finally suceeding in getting up the message board! Still working on the poll, though... Please do use the message board- that's what it's there for! Also, I'm going to attempt a fan-art section, at Veralidaine's suggestion, but since I don't have a scanner, and am really bad at computer art, I'll have to rely totally on you guys for submissions. Please send them to the usual address (annesparkles@hotmail.com) and I'll do my best to post them! Toodles for now!~Anne
10/24/00 - Hi everyone! just to let you know, I've set up a poll for you all to take, but at the moment angelfire is mad at me and won't let me upload it! I've also signed up for a message board, but guess what? Same problem! Oh well, just keep an eye out for them! Also, Veralidaine suggested in her guestbook entry that I start a fan-art section. As long as it doesn't require a scanner (which I don't have), I'd love to start one! Let me know if you guys would be interested in submitting and I'll be happy to set up a place for you- provided I can figure out how, that is! Do let me know... I'll be waiting!~Anne
10/21/00 - Hello everyone! Yesterday in an interview on the Today Show J.K. Rowling told voracious readers the world over the title of her much anticipated fifth book: Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix! She also mentioned that Hermione's birthday is September 19th; Lily's maiden name was Evans, and she was in Gryffindor. (Sorry to those of you who were rooting for Slytherin, Ravenclaw or Hufflepuff.) We were also informed that James was a chaser on the Gryffindor team, NOT a seeker like many of us assumed. Harry's middle name is James, for those who didn't know; and Dumbledore is 150 years old, while McGonagall is 70. I think it is safe to say that wizards have longer lives than we muggles do. Thanks to my local newspaper for the title and to Veralidaine for the rest of the information. ~Anne
