Pleasant View Baptist Church first came into being because of the faith of a young Christian man, Virgil Anthony, because of his interest for the spiritul needs of the community, a Sunday School was organized in Via's school in 1933. Under the leadership of Rev.D.F.Roach, from Blackberry baptist Church, and Rev.W.J.Yeaman, from First Baptist Church in Bassett, Pleasant View Baptist Church was organized with six members May 25, 1935. Thoses members were: Mr.& Mrs. Wilbert Spencer, Mrs. Bessie Craig, Mrs. Dovie Joyce and Mr. & Mrs.E.S.Moore. The land for the church and cemetery was donated by Mr. and Mrs. Burton Joyce.
A one room church was built in 1935 by volunteer labor and in August of the same year the church was accepted into the Blue Ridge Association under the watch care of Rev.W.J.Yeaman.
For 15 years the church grew slowly under th leadership of several part-time and supply pastors. The first full time pastor was Rev. Clarence Bishop, who came in February 11, 1950. since 1953, there has been 12 full-time pastors. Those being Rev.Odell Breland, Rev.Robert Laughlin, Rev.Clarence Eden, Rev.Zack Fleming, Rev.Leroy Adams, Rev. John Wellons, Rev.D.O. Wright,Fred Simpson, Rev.Wayne Hannah, and our present pastor Rev.Rick Anderson.
During the summer of 1963 a five room brick parsonage was constructed. A picnic shelter was built in 1968. On July 15, 1972, the construction was begun on our present building. It was completed the summer of 1973 and the debt was retired on November 30, 1975. Construction for the Educational Building and Social Hall was Began April 10, 1979,and dedication and open house was held on November 4, 1979.The church Sanctuary was redecorated in shades of blue in 1997 with carpet and soft blue seats for the pews.
Since 1998 the church the parking lot was paved and a sign erected in front of the church and the parsonage was remodeled.The church purchased a 15 passenger van to be used by the yourth and other groups of the church.
Pleasant View has particated in Partnership Mission trips by supporting and sendind members to Brazil, Costa Rica, Mexico, and Panama.
God has Blessed Pleasant View with growth,the church has on roll 237 members.It all started with a dream of a young teenage boy.
