Turtle Chowder ~ Anishanabe ~ modern

1 lb. cubed turtle meat (snapping turtle)
2 tsp. salt
1 cup sliced carrots
1 cup sliced turnips
1 cup chopped green peppers
1 medium onion, chopped
1 cup peas
1/2 cup milk
2 T. flour or cornstarch

Boil meat in salted water until done, about 1 hour. Then add all
vegetables and cook over medium heat until tender. Remove from
heat and add milk. Thicken with flour or cornstarch.
