Reasons to Sing

.) Acknowledges who God is and brings us into his presence: Psalms 100: 1- 5 Make a joyful noise unto the Lord all ye lands. Serve the Lord with gladness: come before his presence with singing. Know ye that the Lord he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture. Enter his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name. For the Lord is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations.

.) Our judgements taken away, enemy cast out, and God rejoices over us with singing. Zephaniah 3: 14-17 Sing O daughter of Zion, shout O Israel: be glad and rejoice with all thy heart, O daughter of Jerusalem. The Lord hath taken away thy judgements, he hath cast out thine enemy: the King of Israel, even the Lord, is in the midst of thee: thou shalt not see evil anymore. In that day it shall be said of Jerusalem, Fear thou not: and to Zion, Let not thine hands be slack. The Lord thy God in the midst of thee is mighty; he will save, he will rejoice over thee with joy; he will rest in his love, he will joy over thee with singing.

.) Brings the presence of God: Zechariah 2:10 Sing and rejoice, O daughter of Zion: for Lo, I come, and I will dwell in the midst of thee, saith the Lord.

.) Provision: Isaiah 48: 20 & 21 Go ye forth of Babylon, flee from the Chaldeans, with a voice of singing declare ye, The Lord hath redeemed his servant Jacob. And they thirsted not when he led them through the desert: he caused the waters to flow out of the rock for them: he clave the rock also, and the waters gushed out.

.) Comfort: Isaiah 52: 8-10 Thy watchman shall lift up the voice: with the voice together shall they sing: for they shall see eye to eye, when the Lord shall bring again Zion. Break forth into joy, sing together, ye waste places of Jerusalem: The Lord hath made bare his holy arm in the eyes of all the nations: And all the ends of the earth shall see the salvation of our God.

.) Mercy: Romans 15: 19 And that the Gentiles might glorify him for his mercy, as it is written, for this cause I will confess to thee among the Gentiles, and sing unto thy name.

.) For edification: Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord.

.) Wisdom, teaching and admonishing: Colossians 3: 16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom: teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.

.) Bands loosed: Acts 16: 25 & 26 And at midnight Paul and Silas prayed and sang praises unto God: And the prisoners heard them. And suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken: and immediately all the doors were opened, and every ones bands were loosed. (not only the ones singing, but all those around them also)

.) To bring forth: Isaiah 54: 1-3 Sing O barren thou that didst not bear: break forth into singing, cry aloud, thou that didst not travail with child: for more are the children of the desolate than the children of the married wife saith the Lord. Enlarge the place of thy tent, and let them stretch forth the curtains of thine habitation: spare not, lengthen thy cords, and strengthen thy stakes. For thou shalt break forth on the right hand and on the left: And thy seed shall inherit the Gentiles, and make the desolate cities to be inhabited.

.) Proclaim His doings: Psalms 126: 2 Then was our mouth filled with laughter, and our tongue with singing: then said they among the heathen, the Lord hath done great things for them.

.) Because we are happy: James 5: 13 Is any among you afflicted? Let him pray. Is any merry? Let him sing psalms.

.) Just do it: 1 Corinthians 14: 15 :I will pray with the spirit, and I will pray with the understanding also: And I will sing with the spirit, and I will sing with the understanding also.

Sorrow and sighing shall flee away: 14.) Isaiah 35: 10 And the ransomed of the Lord shall return, and come to Zion with songs and everlasting joy upon their heads: they shall obtain joy and gladness, and sorrow and sighing shall flee away.

.) Song is a God given tool: Job 35: 10 But none saith, where is God, my maker who giveth songs in the night. Psalms 32: 7 Thou art my hiding place; thou shalt preserve me from trouble; thou shalt compass me about with songs of deliverance. Selah.

Singing is an act of our will. (determined by choice) It is a decision, not a feeling. It is a powerful tool in spiritual warfare. The weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but they are mighty to the pulling down of strongholds. It is a choice to use this weapon God has freely given to us.
