I Will Live and Not Die

Last night I felt an evil presence enter the room.
A sense of hopeless, helpless, darkness and gloom.
I gently closed my eyes, only to see,
The grim reaper, seated next to me.
His cold bony fingers stretched across my face.
I felt peaceful and serene, even in his embrace.
I was so cold and feeble and weak.
I tried to pray, but could hardly speak.
As a child of God I thought to see,
Beautiful angels, coming for me.
To my surprise this was no angel of light.
But a creature of evil of darkness and night.
Coming only to destroy, to kill, and to steal.
This is the enemy, I must make an appeal.
Then I recognized the shadow of fear,
Listening for my consent, waiting to hear.
As intercession began on my behalf,
In my spirit arose a little laugh.
Others were called upon to interceded,
And for my life, they did plead.
Inside me arose this mighty cry,
For the glory of God, I will live and not die.
Death loosed its hold and lost its forum.
My strength returning and my flesh getting warm.
I wondered at the white pinions I could see.
Only to realize it was His feathers covering me.
Another victory for the kingdom of God, you know.
Because obedience was found when His eyes ran to and fro.
