In Joshua 1:11 you will find the command to prepare your provisions for crossing the Jordan and possessing the land God has promised. There is also a day of preparation mentioned in Matthew 27:62 as well as John 19:14, 31. This day was especially busy with the details of preparing the Passover supper, which had to be complete by afternoon. There was unleavened bread to be baked festive garments to be gathered and ceremonial baths to be taken. We too are called to prepare our provisions. We have been given all the necessary tools, everything that pertains to life and godliness. Even though it may seem that we are small in number, there is a sufficient amount for the task at hand. Gideon’s army underwent the same process as the body of Christ in Judges chapter 7. Many are called but few are chosen, if you are afraid you will be sent back because you are not yet ready for battle. However if you have passed the test at the waters you have been chosen to go forth and fight the battle. We have been given the same provisions that those valiant warriors had received a clay pot, torch and a trumpet. The clay pot represents our earthen vessel, our body, from the dust of the ground man was formed. The torch is symbolic of the man’s spirit, which is the candle of the Lord. When we receive the Lord this candle is ignited to a much greater extent by the Holy Spirit, our God is a consuming fire, and is that fire shut up in our bones. Our voice is our trumpet we are to lift up, to cry aloud and spare not. We are in the day of preparation, preparing for the coming of the Lord. It is of utmost importance that we ready ourselves in the presence of God and becoming strong in the Lord and the power of His might. Knowing that man does not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God. We are to lift up our voice like a trumpet, let the redeemed of the Lord say so. We are to speak to our mountains and call those things that be not as though they were. Return God’s word to him by speaking it, it will not return to Him void. He will hasten to perform it. We are to let our light so shine before men that they see our good works and glorify our Father, which is in heaven. We must let our carnal flesh nature be shattered, by crucifying our flesh daily with it’s affections and lusts, that the world may see the hope of glory that resides on the inside of us. Let us be doers of the word and not hearers only. Let us prepare our provisions and go in and possess the land God has promised us. Glory to God!!!
