1 John 1:7- But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.
8: If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
James1:22- But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.
23: For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass:
24: For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was.
Rom.1:18- For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness;
Rom.1:18 AMP-For God's [holy] wrath and indignation are revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who in their wickedness repress and hinder the truth and make it inoperative.
Rom.1:24- Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves:
25: Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.
Rom.1:28- And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;
29: Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers,
30:Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents,
31:Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful:
32: Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.
Rom.1:29 AMP-Until they were filled (permeated and saturated) with every kind of unrighteousness, iniquity, grasping and covetous greed, and malice. [They were] sevret backbiters and gossipers,
30:Slanderers, hateful to and hating God, full of insolence, arrogance, [and] boasting; inventors of new forms of evil, disobedient and undutiful to parents.
31:[They were] without understanding, conscienceless and faithless, heartless [and] merciless.
32:Though they are fully aware of God's righteous decree that those who do such things deserve to die, they not only do them themselves but approve and applaud others who practice them.
By looking at and considering these scriptures one can see that you never get there over night. A little leaven, leavens the whole lump. A little error makes plenty of room for the devil to come in and reek havok. The same concept of line upon line, precept upon precept, works the same way for good or evil. What we reap is what we sow, what we plant is what we grow. We must study to show yourselves approved unto God a workman that need not be ashamed, rightly dividing the truth.
Two thing I have observed here is that 1.) Arrogance or pride is one thing that causes one to walk in deception, this is why it is of important to walk in the light we have, and in fellowship with others of like precious faith. 2.) If we are hearers only and not doers of the Word of God we are decieved. We must apply the word of God to our lives for in Him we live and move and have our being. The word of God is life to those who find it and health to all their flesh. We must write the law (word of God) upon our heart, keep it before our eyes, meditate on it day and night, that we might have good success.
The Word of God is our mirror:
James1:23- For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass:
24: For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was.
2Cor.3:18- But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.
Abide in Him:
John 15:5- I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.
6: If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned.
7: If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.
Continue in the Word for it is truth and you will know the truth and the truth will make you free (John 8:31-32). Be doers of the word, repressing and hindering the truth makes it inoperative. The word of God is nigh you it is in your heart and in your mouth, keep your heart will all diligence for out of it flow the issues of life. The traditions of men make the word of God of no effect, so make the Word of God final authority in your life, give it first priority, continue in it and be disciples indeed (action).
