Haavelmo Trygve was a professor of Economics at the University of Oslo until his retirement in 1979. He received the Nobel Prize in Economics in 1989 "for his pioneering work in the forties in econometrics." His work emphasized probability theory as the foundation of econometrics. He also attempted to equate evolution with an arithmomorphic mechanism, i.e., evolution as ruled by a consistent mathematical mechanism.
