Piero Sraffa was brought to Cambridge University to teach economics by John maynard Keynes. His major focus was on Value Theory and, according to Austin Robinson, he would analyze, criticize, and refine Alfred Marshall's Principles during his lectures. The major theoretical work that influened the neo-Ricardians such as J. Eatwell, P. Garegnani and L. Pasinetti, was the work done by Sraffa in, "The Production of Commodities by Means of Commodities". According to the Neo-Ricardians, economies can be better understood by employing modern mathematical reformulations and extensions of Ricardo's economics than by employing neoclassical economics.
