The Nobel Foundation: Bertil Ohlin
Bertil Ohlin was born in 1899. He was a Swedish economist who received his Ph.D. at Stockholm University in 1919. He was Emeritus Professor of Economics at Stockholm University. Ohlin led the Swedish Liberal Party from 1944 to 1967. He was awarded the Nobel Prize in Economics in 1977, along with James Meade, for their "pathbreaking contributions to the theory of international trade and international capital movements." Ohlin died in 1979.
