Philip Mirowski is a professor of economics at the University of Notre Dame. He is also Carl Koch Chair of Economics and the History and Philosophy of Science at the University of Notre Dame. During his academic career, he has also taught at the University of Amsterdam, Tufts, Yale and the University of Massechusetts. In his book "Natural Images in Economic Thought" he compiled essays from several economists which sought to explain "how images in the history of the natural and physical sciences have been used to shape the history of economic thought" and to "evaluate the role and importance of metaphors in the structure and content of economic thought."
