"Remember the eyes of Tlanuhwa Bird People of lightning eyes. For a warriors' path of the Chickamaugan Cherokee must carry the eyes of Tlanuhwa. So thus rose the Thunderbolts of the Chickamauga Cherokee."
THUNDERBOLT WARRIORS OF THE SACRED ARK.
HERE THE STICK STOOD STRAIGHT - UNTIL THE 1810 CHILDRENS MASSACRE. YWAHOO FALLS. REMEMBER THEM WITH A CHEROKEE TEAR. |
For 100,000 years the Native American cultures have existed over the continents of the Americas. From them arose the most advanced civilization to ever exist. Theirs was the most accurate calendar system the world has known. Their knowledge of stars and nature was beyond measure. However, invasion by Europeans reduced these accomplishments to bits and pieces remembered by only a few.
We remember the legacy of one of the greatest Original Inhabitants of Turtle Island(the Ani yun tikwalaski or the People of the Land of Lightning) that the European invaders attempted to destroy by the "doctrine of discovery".
Thomas Jefferson: "...if ever we are constrained to lift the hatchet against any tribe we will never lay it down til that tribe is exterminated,..."
Treaty of 1846: "...the Indians become extinct..."
Their original name was or is Chickamaugan derived from the name of their homeland far to the south. Some call them Tsa la gi or Ani yun wiya; commonly Cherokee. They were and are the Ani yun tikwalaski - People of the Land of Lightning - together is 14 clans. At the time of the Great Intrusion there were three distinct groups of 'Cherokee'; the Middle, Lower and Overhill 'Cherokees'. The Overhill 'Cherokees' were different in many ways from the others. Their tradition tells of following a bending stick to the land of gandga gidi or Kentucky and the areas of the Cumberland and Tennessee River Valley.
Cherokee blood, if not destroyed, will wind its courses in beings of fair complexions, who will read that their ancestors became civilized under the frowns of misfortune, and the causes of their enemies.
