Native Prayer

Now you will feel no rain,
for each of you will be shelter for the other.
Now you will feel no cold.
for each of you will be warmth for the other.
Now there is no more loneliness,
for each of you will be companion for the other.
Now you are two persons,
but there is only one life before you.
Go now to your dwelling to enter into
the days of your life together.
And may your days be good,
and long upon the earth.

Indian Prayer for Peace

Oh, Great Spirit who dwells in the sky,
lead us to the path of peace and understanding,
let all of us live together as brothers and sisters.
Our lives are so short here, walking upon Mother Earth's surface.
Let our eyes be opened to all the blessings you have given us.
Please hear our prayers, Oh, Great Spirit.

"CHEROKEE INDIAN BLESSING"

May the warm winds of heaven blow softly
on your home and the Great Spirit
bless all who enter here

A Native American Prayer

Oh Great Spirit, whose voice I hear in the winds, and whose breath gives life to all the world
-hear me-
I come before you, one of your children.
I am small and weak.
I need your strength and wisdom.
Let me walk in beauty and make my eyes ever behold the red and purple sunset.
Make my hands respect the things you have made, my ears sharp to hear your voice.
Make me wise, so that I may know the things you have taught my People.
The lessons you have hidden in every leaf and rock.
I seek strength not to be superior to my brothers,
but to be able to fight my greatest enemy, myself.
Make me ever ready to come to you, with clean hands and straight eyes,
so when life fades as a fading sunset, my spirit may come to you without shame.
