Little Drummer Boy, also known as LDB, is one-third of the soul group IMx, which began recording as Immature in 1992. Little Drummer Boy was born Kelton Tavon Kessee, on January 2, 1981, in Los Angeles. At 2 years old, he was banging on his high chair and toys like a future drummer. It wasn't until age 6 that LDB got his first drum kit. His neighbor Marques Houston noticed LDB drumming at conventions and churches, using his first stage name, Bubble Gum. Meanwhile, Houston — a.k.a. Batman — joined Immature, a soul group assembled in L.A. by producer/mentor Chris Stokes that included two more preteens: Jerome "Romeo" Jones and Don Fernando "Half Pint" Santos. After Immature issued the poor-selling On Our Worst Behavior (1992), including "You're All That" (RealAudio excerpt), Half Pint quit the band.
LDB, who had been tapped by Batman to drum for the trio, was then elevated to the status of full-time member of the harmonizing group. In his new role, LDB contributed to Playtyme Is Over (1994), which included "Summertime" (RealAudio excerpt). The singles "Never Lie" and "Constantly" helped the LP sell well enough to be certified gold.
We Got It (1995) included the title track and "Feel the Funk," which was featured in the Michelle Pfeiffer film "Dangerous Minds." The Journey (1997) featured "Give Up the Ghost" and did well on Billboard's R&B album chart.
With the members by this time growing older, Immature changed their name to IMx, releasing Introducing IMx in 1999. The LP, which included 10 tunes co-written by Romeo, offered "Stay the Night" and "Keep It on the Low," featuring rapper Ra Ra. "Old School Love" included a rap by Smooth.
IMx also hit the road in 1999, touring the States, in support of Introducing IMx.
In addition to his music career, LDB intends to study business at UCLA.
