FORD THEATRE TIME CHANGES 1969 All music and lyrics by Harry Palmer (except as noted) TIME CHANGES Time, time, nothing new but there'll be changes Mine, mine, what you do And all the places, the places that you know Watch yourself grow and fade away Visions and the signs of the times I see forever fading Patterns that I find keep reminding me INTERLUDE ONE (Clifford Smothergill was born in Phildelphia on February 10th, 1949. He grew up in the typical middle-class American fashion, and therefore, nothing really significant happened to Clifford in his younger years. Mary Jane Baxter was born and raised in New York City, and that's where Clifford met her in his search for significant things that didn't happen to him in his younger years. From the moment that Clifford Smothergill met Mary Jane Baxter, he knew that she was the girl for him, and that life was about to take on a brand new meaning.) THAT'S MY GIRL Standing on the corner 'bout half-past ten Right in the middle of town Laughin' at the world because it's puttin' her down That's my girl, that's my girl She don't get worried none She never could heed a warning She gets her lovin' done On a Sunday morning People come to see her standin' in the rain Right in the middle of town Puttin' new ideas down in my brain That's my girl WAKE UP IN THE MORNING Well I wake up in the morning Pour some coffee for my brain Every day is different But I always feel the same Everybody tells me The world is in my hands, yeah But that don't mean a thing to me Cause I'll never be a man If I don't have you, if I don't have you
And I read the morning papers
Sunshine through my window
It's just a fever
And in the morning I got a little trouble
Sometimes I feel it
And it's the world we got a little trouble |
