Yarber/Yarbrough/Yarborough

On these pages you will find all the documents and information that I have for my Yarbers/Yarbroughs/Yarboroughs.  Feel free to browse, send corrections or additions and to take what will help you further you and your research.

My search began with Pearl Isabel Yarber who married Andrew Anderson Denton.  Through twists and turns of being Yarbers on one document, Yarbroughs on another and Yarboroughs on yet another, I found myself all the way back to the late 1600's in King William County, Virginia.

I was sent "The Descendants of William Yarborough" in a word document form several years ago when I first started genealogy and before I knew I needed to save my sources, so if you or you know who sent this please let me know so that I can give them the credit they so richly deserve.

I put together the basic family group sheet of Andrew Yarber and Julia Whittemore before I had the descendants of William Yarborough mentioned above.

Over the last few years I have acquired a couple of census documents on the Yarbers and school records of the children of Wade Yarbrough/Yarborough and Elizabeth Ann Tankersly.  I also have gotten a copy of the marriage certificate of Wade and Elizabeth.  In my searches I also found out that Wade was previously married to Martha Turner.  I am descended from his second wife, Elizabeth, but include the marriage record of Wade and Martha in the interests of research and fair play.

The census records I have are for 1830 Warren County, North Carolina and 1860 Dade County, GA.  The 1860 is after Wade died and shows second wife Elizabeth alone raising the children.

I also have two pages of minutes of the Poor School in Dahlonega, Lumpkin County, Georgia.  These are dated:
1847-1857
1857-1858

I also have some copies of letters:
Pearl Yarbrough Taliferro
Excerpt from the diary of Joel Steven Yarborough

In this section are pictures of Yarber tombstones in the Chapel Hill Cemetery, Mountain View, Howell County, Missouri.  If you can add stories or information on these it would be greatfully appreciated.

Elaine,

Feel free to use the documents. I obtained them freely
and I like to see that they are easy access to any of
our relations that can use the material. Placing them
on your web site just makes it that much more
accessible.
Forgive the fact that some have highlighted entries.
It just makes it easier for me to find what I am
looking for in a pinch.
I sent the same documentation to Karen Mazock, who is
part of the Yarber Family Association (I think the
name has changed), and she is going to add any new
ones to the archives they maintain.
