Although none of them are listed here, I also
enjoy the Fred Astaire/Ginger Rogers musicals,
and the Jeanette McDonald/Nelson Eddy flicks.
Typically, these are "boy likes girl," "girl hates boy,"
"boy and girl fall in love" type stories, invariably
involving at least one major misunderstanding.
Of course, in real life if "girl hates boy" it's game over,
but perhaps that's the appeal behind these fantasies.
Other notable musicals are "Springtime In The Rockies,"
(1942) with Betty Grable and "Holiday Inn" (1942)
with Fred Astaire and Bing Crosby.
The talented comic actor Edward Everett Horton
appears in many of these films, adding his own
special style of humour.
The Bob Hope/Bing Crosby (and Dorothy Lamour,
of course) Road Movies are a good source of
amusement. If you are a fan of Bob Hope you
may also want to watch "My Favourite Brunette"
(1942) and "The Lemon Drop Kid" (1951).
Some of my favourite actors and actresses of
the past are Humphrey Bogart, Peter Lorre,
Sydney Greenstreet, Jimmy Stewart, Cary Grant,
Stan Laurel & Oliver Hardy, Clara Bow, Jean Harlow
Carole Lombard, Marie Dressler, Veronica Lake,
Betty Grable, Judy Holiday and Marilyn Monroe.
Finally, I'm also a big fan of Jackie Chan movies for
their blend of creativity, action and humour. To read
an important message from Jackie Chan go
