Forgive
I'm waiting my turn in solitude
While you keep on walking by
This game we play between us
Is running out of time
I wait with baited breath for you
To break the silence you seek
For I'm afraid to shout aloud
So my thoughts, to myself, I keep
I learned my lesson long ago
I learned it all too well
If Heaven waits for believers
How did I get to hell?
I tried to do my best for you
I practiced what you preached
But temptation came in the dark of night
And I failed for all to see
If God, within his heart could see
My cold and weary soul
He'd place his mercy down on me
And you would stand alone
Drowning in the deep water
And reaching for your hand
I'm sinking down to nothingness
Won't you pull me back up again?
I'm gasping for one last breath
One last hope I hope to find
For love is unconditional
And to forgive is divine.
