At the Beach

Wake up to the smell of bacon and salt air
Hear the ocean meet the sand
Dress in bathing suit and head to the kitchen
Bacon and eggs, biscuits, and gravy, orange juice and cinnamon rolls
Put the sun screen on, pull back your hair and grab the buckets and shovels
Towels and Sandals, across the street, through the sea oats to the white sand
Hear the squeak it makes as you walk and smile
Swim first or make the castle, swim first
Hours later with salt still burning your eyes it's time to create
Pack the sand here, gather shells, wet drizzled beach to make a peak.
And the castle comes to life
Time to go in, take a nap and eat lunch, sandwhiches and chips with a cold coke
Rinse the salt from your body and hair, sit on the porch swing and fall asleep
Wake up to the view of the ocean and run to get the towels
Back to the beach to play and swim some more
Touch up the castle and write your name in the sand
Walk down the beach gathering wood from the sea
Dig the pit and start the fire
Mom brought the wires to roast the Marshmallows on
Watch as the sun sets into the horizon
Down to the water after it's dark
Bury your hands in the sand and seaweed to find glowing phosphorus
Laugh as the crabs run from your feet and themselves under layers of white dust
Listen to the waves break as you watch the moon rise
Bury the coals and gather your things
Walk back to the house heavy with sleep
Take a shower with soap this time and watch the sand slip down the drain
The night is hot but the breeze throug the window sooths
Head falls onto the pillow, and smell the salt air as dreams take you
To do it all over again tomorrow
