YVONNE ELLIMAN

Yvonne was born on December 29, 1951 in Honolulu, HI. She began her career as a singer in a group named "We Folk" while she was still in high school. In 1969, while singing in a club outside of London, England, she was discovered by Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd-Webber. She was offered the role of Mary in "Jesus Christ Superstar" She appeared in both the Broadway stage production and the 1973 film version.
Her greatest recording success has been the soundtrack to "Saturday Night Fever" in 1977. Her other recordings are: I Don't Know How to Love Him...1972, Yvonne Elliman...1972, Food of Love...1973, Rising Sun...1975, Love Me...1976, Night Flight...1978, and Yvonne...1979. She sang back up for Eric Clapton on several of his albums dating from 1974 through 1996.
In 1995 she released "The Very Best of Yvonne Elliman" and then another compilation in 1997 titled "The Best of Yvonne Elliman".
On a more personal note, she married RSO Records president Bill Oakes. I have heard through the grapevine that she is "busy being a mom".
