Because he is the 5 new member of the band since it was first formed in 1989. Some think that he got the name as a joke because of the movie Short Circuit. In the movie the robot's name is Jonny5, also someone says somewhere in the movie "JONNY5 IS ALIVE"
(3.) Did Marilyn Manson kill a chicken on stage?
Ok, obviously you haven't read the book so I'll explain it here. One night in Dallas, as a joke Marilyn asked for a live chicken. Well he went backstage and there it was, he named it Jebediah and had no intentions of harming it. He brought it out on stage as amusement for the fans. Somehow the chicken got out of the cage and flew into the crowd. Somebody wanted to catch the chicken and give it to a local chef for money. When that guy went down to the mosh pit with a net, some of the fans wouldn't let him take it because they knew he was going to cook it. So they stared a fight and in the midst of it the chicken was trying to get outta there so feathers flew. From the crowd's point of view it looked like it was being dismembered because of all the feathers in the air. Eventually one of Manson's roadies caught the chicken and returned it to a farm. No one knows what happened to Jebediah after that. He's most likely Chicken McNuggets by now. (4.)Why does Marilyn keep calling himself by so many different names?
Well the name Marilyn Manson came about when he was writing for a local Fort Lauderdale newspaper. He had just started Marilyn Manson (the band) and wanted to give himnself a review but he wasn't allowed to give a review of his own band. So he wrote the review anyways, but in the article he changed the singer's name from Brian Warner (Marilyn's birth name)to Marilyn Manson so his boss wouldn't fire him. From then on that was his alias and everyone began calling him that. As for Anti-Christ Superstar, that was obviously the name of his 3rd album. But it was also what Marilyn had evolved into. Not an opposition to Christ, but rather the Nietzche "overman" concept. The Overman or Anti-Christ as described by Nietzche, was the "redeeming man whose strength and isolation would be misunderstood by many, but he would be the victor over nothingness, nihilism, the weak, and 'god'". (4.) Why does Marilyn Manson perform self mutilation on stage in front of "impressionable teenagers"?
I shall qoute Marilyn himself for this answer: "It was a bit symbolic on one level. It's the interaction between one person and alot of others who are listening to that person. Also to see people's reaction's and how it affects them. For me, to be on stage is an outlet to release all the emotions I've pent up all day, whether it be aggression or anything else I might be feeling that day. I tend to save all of that up, so it becoms real explosive." When it comes to his fans mutilating themselves, I shall also qoute Manson again: "I never said be like me. I say be like you and make a difference".
(5.) Why did Marilyn Manson show dis-respect the Kennedy famly by re-creating the JFK assasination in his new video (yet unreleased) after all the family has just been through?
First of all, the Coma White video was made before the death of JFK Jr. Marilyn means no dis-respect to the Kennedy family whatsoever. That particular scene was meant to show how the news has become so shallow that they would film this tragedy.
(6.) Why did Marilyn say that the Columbine tragedy has inspired him?
Before you make childish remarks like that I suggest you read the entire qoute and not take out one sentence of it to make him look bad. Here is the rest of the qoute: "The thing that happened in Columbine has been happening since the beginning of time and it's the exact thing that inspired me to start a band and inspired the name Marilyn Manson. It's the fact that mankind is not as good as they assume they are and it's pretentious of them to ignore their shadow. I don't think it's good what happened, but me being able to say what I thought will hopefully reach a lot of people and make people re-evaluate what they think about entertainment. I think that entertainment is dangerous to idiots. I think that we should strive to make people more intelligent."
(7.) Is Marilyn Manson a racist?
No. He judges people by intelligence. If your asking this question because of the song "Rock 'n Roll Nigger", the song is not meant to be racist. It was meant to be about people being themselves and fuck anyone who doesn't understand their individuality. To prove my point, if you read the lyrics to the song, at the end it says "Brian Warner what a nigger" and for those of you who don't know, Brian Warner is Marilyn Manson's real name. Besides, Marilyn Manson didn't write the song, that was Patti Smith and she had the same intentions.
(8.) Why didn't Marilyn Manson perform at Woodstock this year?
Amazingly enough this was the question I got asked the most. For those of you who don't know, they were originally supposed to perform there but they dropped out simply because they were busy. Marilyn himself is working on his movie entitled 'HolyWood'. The entire band is also busy working on the next album. I'm sure if they did play Marilyn probably would have started the fires first :) (to the less perceptive, that was a joke).
(9.) What have Zim-Zum and Scott Putesky (a.k.a Daisy Berkowitz) been doing since they were fired from the band?
Zim-Zum is now in a band called "Ultra Fag". Zim-Zum has just finished recording the album, he played all instruments (except lead vocals) and wrote most of the songs on the album. He is still auditioning for 2 bass players, back-up guitarist and a drummer. Ultra Fag's album will be out sometime before the year has ended. Zim-Zum has not spoken to anyone in the band since he was fired. Daisy was playing for the band Jack-Off-Jill for a bit until he was fired for being lazy (seriously). He now wants to put together a double CD of early "Marilyn Manson And The Spooky Kids" (the band's original name) recordings since he now legally owns the rights to them. Daisy han't spoken to Marilyn (or anyone in the band for that matter) since he sued.
(10.) When is Marilyn marrying Rose McGowan?
The wedding is being kept top secret so only family and close friends know. This is to keep crowds and press from coming to the wedding. Therefore no wedding date will be released to the public. I'm sure he'll let everyone when they were married though.
(11.) What is Marilyn's relationship with Courtney Love and did it have anything to do with Hole leaving the Manson tour?
They have a strange friendship. Manson doesn't hate her, but he doesn't like her. He has respect for her for going through a hard life of drugs and alcohol and managing to make a career out of it. He also likes her because (as Manson puts it from a radio interview in NY)"She amuses me like a clown would. A clown with tits. The word tits are being used very liberally in that sentence". Hole left the tour not because of personal reasons between her and Manson. They left because the crowd wasn't responding well to Hole. Unless you count throwing crap at her and booing her off-stage as responding well.
(12.)What is the current status of Marilyn and Trent's relationship?
The two haven't supposedly spoken since Manson began recording Mechanical Animals. According to Trent's thinly veiled reference to Manson in a June '99 Rolling Stone interview, it's not very friendly. Here's a qoute from the interview: " 'My best friends turned on me.' Asked who those friends were, he replies, 'A group of people I spent some time with, recorded an album with, and their name has two words in it and they start with the letter M.' A thinly veiled reference to former proteges Marilyn Manson."
(13.) Is Twiggy dating that model Kate Moss?
They've been seen together making out backstage at some of the Manson concerts. Kate was also Twiggy's "date" for the 1999 MTV Video Music Awards. They are not dating however. Kate Moss has been seen in NYC recently "sucking face" with other celebs such as Lenny Kravitz and Liam Neeson (this is according the New York Post).

Yes, Marilyn Manson is a priest of the Church Of Satan. Before you go making pre-mature assumptions, let me explain. Satanism and the Church Of Satan has nothing to do with worshipping the devil, it does not believe in heaven or hell, does not have anything to do with harming animals or children, people who are satanists do not break the law in any way. Satanism believes in worshipping yourself as your own god (as you are the creator of your own good and evil), indulgence (without going beyond the boundries of the law).
