Martha's Thirst--A Biography

Martha's Thirst is a five-man band that formed in the spring of '97. The group is from Nashville and currently bases their work in Knoxville, TN. The band is: Matt Urmy - lead guitar, Reg - keyboards, Al - bass, Jake - drums, & Matt Roley - vocals, rhythm guitar. All five members have been friends since the early nineties, making the band's connection and chemistry very strong.

Martha's Thirst has a unique sound that the band likes to call "Songwriter Rock." They have a passion for what they do, which is evident at their shows. The band puts on a captivating live show with thought-provoking lyrics and intense musical performances, currently drawing a crowd of 200+ people. Their sound has been likened to a blend of Counting Crows, Pearl Jam, and U2, with influences ranging from Bob Dylan to The Police. Their creative melodies and musical chemistry make the band's songs unique and leave the listeners always wanting more. This musical blend has gathered them a large fan base in Knoxville and Nashville. Martha's thirst is playing regularly in those two cities and around the southeast.

Collecting their work over the past two years, Martha's Thirst engineered and produced their first independent album recently. "From Where I Stand" became available to the public in February and is receiving tremendous feedback. Martha's Thirst is a band on the rise, creating more waves every time their album plays and with every live performance. They continue to climb the long staircase of the music industry, making a bigger name for themselves with each step.
