The moonlight was shining through the windows on the forms of two newlyweds. Samuel Guthrie and his bride, Tabitha Smith-Guthrie, were sleeping peacefully in each other's arms. The soft, tropical breeze blew through the open window, ruffling their hair and blowing the sheets about.
The two were thoroughly enjoying their wedding present from Roberto and Amara Da Costa-a two-week honeymoon in Aruba. Demona and Rictor had even volunteered to watch Sami for them, so it would be a real honeymoon. They had decided to spend a week by themselves, and then Sami was going to come out to spend the other week with them.
Tabitha stirred slightly, and snuggled closer to her husband's side, their breathing perfectly in time. The golden bands that surrounded both their fingers glint in the moonlight.
Sam sighed deeply, moving to make it easier to wrap his arms around his beloved wife, and then fell back into the deep sleep.
The moon had nearly set when Tabitha woke up. Slowly she eased out of her husband's arms and padded to the window. Tabitha looked out over the ocean, and sighed deeply, content with her life.
Had it only been four months ago when she had been a single mom who went to sleep dreaming of the man who now lay not five feet from her? In four short months, her life had become everything she would ever want out of life.
"Tabitha?" Sam asked groggily, crawling out of the huge bed and walking to her side. "What are you doing?"
"Just thinking, Sam." She said in a near whisper, leaning her head against his broad chest.
"About…?" He prompted, wrapping his arms around her tightly.
"The last couple of months." Tabitha admitted.
"Been crazy, ain't they?" Sam laughed softly.
"That's one word for them." Tabitha laughed along with him.
The two stood in each other's arms for a long second, just letting the warm tropical air blow around their bodies. The curtains danced in the wind, the moonlight lighting the room.
"Ah'm so in love with you girl. You know that?" Sam whispered into her hair.
"That's good, Mason-Dixion. Cause I love you too." Tabitha turned and kissed him firmly on the mouth.
Sam bent to lift her off the ground, and then carried her to their bed. Softly he laid her down and crawled in beside her. The wind blew through the window and rustled the curtains. Neither Sam nor Tabitha felt the breeze, or heard the curtains rustle.
Afterward, Tabitha lay with her head on Sam's muscular chest. He had his arms wrapped around her, and was softly stroking her back.
"Sam?" Tabitha asked quietly.
"Yeah, honey?" Sam asked softly.
"Do you wanna have a baby?" She asked, twisting around to look at her.
"A baby? Now?" Sam asked, looking down at her in surprise.
"Yeah. I was just thinkin'…Sami's four. She should probably have a little brother or sister before she gets much older, don't you think." Tabitha asked.
"Ah don' know. Ah'd like to have a big family, but for the moment, Ah just want you and Sami. Is that okay with you?" Sam asked, brushing her hair out of her face.
"That's sounds wonderful." Tabitha whispered, leaning up to kiss the man she loved.
"Tabitha?" Sam asked after they broke.
"Hum?" She asked drowsily.
"Are we gonna change Sami's last name to Guthrie?" He asked.
"We don't have to." Tabitha told him, sitting up.
"Huh?" Sam asked, confused.
"Her name, on her birth certificate, is Samantha Zacharia Smith Guthrie." Tabitha explained to him. "I just used Samantha Smith because that was my last name."
"Really?"
"Yeah."
They fell asleep in each other arms, dreaming of the things to come in their life. Because they knew, no matter what happened, they would have one another to depend on. They knew that they would always have each other. And they knew that their daughter and all their future children would have them too.
Samuel, Tabitha, and Samantha Guthrie had a whole new life to begin. And they could hardly wait to get started.
