If you've read my stories before, most of the time I don't write happy stuff. This isn't a happy fic. Mark my words: Someone will die. I got the title from Pearl Jam's song "Last Kiss", which IMO is one of the best songs ever! (This coming from someone who listens to Rammstein, Limp Bizkit, and Kid Rock.) I do have the lyrics for said song, as well as where you can download the song in MP3 or Real Audio format. If you like the song like I do, then just drop 3-4 dollars for the single, or spend 17 on the comp album called "No Boundaries". Okay, back to the story...

Suffice it to say that all characters belong to Marvel. Some really don't, but I'll let them nice people have them. This is for Darkchilde, and our nightly conversations. BTW, Sam and Tab never broke up.

Last Kiss

Sam had something on his mind as he drove Tabitha and himself home from the movies. This, Tabitha was sure of. "What's wrong Sam?" she asked.

"Huh? Oh, uh nothing. It's just this blasted snow. I can't see a plum thing." he replied. Tabitha noticed Sam's white knuckles gripping the steering wheel, and decided to drop the subject.

The truth of the matter was, Sam did have something else besides the blizzard on his mind. He just wasn't sure of how to approach Tabitha about it. They have been going out steadily for the past year, and he knew her for longer, yet he felt so childish when he tried to talk to her.

"Tab," started Sam, as he turned to look at her. "Ah have ta ask ya a question. Would you-"

"SAM LOOK OUT!" screamed Tabitha, as she pointed ahead. Up ahead there was a large car that was blocking both sides of the road. Reacting only on pure instinct, he whipped the wheel to the right, and crashed into the ditch.

Sam woke to the feeling of pain. Not your everyday stub-your-toe pain, but the blinding, white hot pain that most have nightmares about. He heard all sorts of voices around him, so he tried to open his eyes. Bright, sensory-overloading light invaded his eyes. He shut them quickly.

"Hey sir? Sir, are you awake?" asked someone that sounded nearby. Sam groaned in response. "Hey Mike, we got a live one!"

"A live one?" thought Sam. "That doesn't sound good." Then he remembered something else. "TAB!" Sam shot up from the patch of snowy ground that he laid upon, and started to cough blood as his reward. "Tab," rasped Sam. After he was done coughing, he looked around for Tabitha. About twenty feet away, he saw her.

With painstakingly slow movements, Sam crawled his way to Tabitha. "Tab?" asked Sam. "Are you okay?" Tabitha's eyes fluttered open, and settled on Sam's dirt and blood caked face.

"Sam? You look about the way I feel." Tabitha shivered. "Sam, I'm cold. Hold me." Sam did so. He held her tightly. Tab was getting worse. Tab's eyes opened again and she was about to say something, but Sam cut it off with a kiss.

After Sam broke the kiss, he continued to hold her, even after she breathed her last breath. He continued to hold her, rocking in the cold snow, oblivious to anything else, with tears marking their territory down his dirty face.

After Sam was taken to the hospital, a police officer was searching the area surrounding the ditch that they had crashed into, and he found a small, velvet box. He opened it. "huh," he said out loud. "What is an engagement ring doing in a field?"
