Joey's Trip to India- 1998The song that you will be hearing is called God is so good. My parents are from a state in India called Kerala in a region where they speak a language called Malayallam. This song is a pathetic attempt at the language. The photos that you will see are from a trip to India that I took in December 1998. I myself live in TN... so here is our route even if you don't want to hear it... we went from Chattanooga to Atlanta to Washington DC to London to Sri Lanka to Tirvandrum. I really liked the sites along the way. The last time I went to India was about ten years ago. So this was a real eye opener. The purpose of my trip was to witness a wedding that took place. Now for you Westerners this will blow your mind... the engagement and wedding all took place in two weeks! How does that boggle your mind!

Joey and Santa
Hey there compadres! This here is a picture of me in Bangalore. I am in shop called Kemp Fort. I tell you! This place was so awesome! I mean they had gorgeous girls giving out food and everything. I ended up buying a lot of stuff from this place too. Especially when the models came out! Whew! Well, here I am with Santa. I didn't know that he had a home base in India but apparently he does. I also thought that an Indian Santa would be more... ya know... Indian looking |
Joey is in Trouble
Here I am waiting my fate at the principal's office in a university in Bangalore. As a side note, I remember getting paddled by a person named Ms. Cagle in middle school. I remember the reason too... for not paying attention! Imagine that! Not paying attention! It is interesting to note that they have "principals" at the university as opposed to Chancellors and Presidents. I wonder if they paddle at a university? Can you imagine just how they might sting through a loongi? (for you non-Indians - a loongi is a male piece of clothing which is worn very much like how a man wears a towel when he comes out of the shower. Instead of being made of cotton however, they are just thin cloth. Ouch!!!! |
Driving in Bangalore
Traffic sucks! I mean it really does. Here I am driving in Bangalore. Take note of where the steer column is. I learned a lot while attempting to drive in India. I mean the rules are totally different. There were livestock everywhere, pedestrians, trucks, and cars as well. It was a learning experience though. |
Joey finally has hair!
Yes! I have finally found something that outdoes rogaine. Well in all seriousness... the person's who's hair I am "borrowing" is Susan, my cousin. This picture was taken in Bangalore... this is her father in law's place. |
