Marcus Anthony "Tony" Merritt

Funeral services for Marcus Anthony "Tony" Merritt, age 16, of the New Harmony Community of Macon County, TN were conducted Tuesday, December 14, 1999 at 10:00 am from the Phillip Anderson & Son Funeral Home in LaFayette, TN with Elder Walter Andrews officiating. Honorary Pallbearers were the 1999 Macon County High School Junior Class. Active pallbearers were: Gary Worrell, Gary Worrell, Jr., Terry Worrell, Charlie Schewe, Daniel Bartley, Anthony Sanders, Jason White, Matthew Carter. Interment was in the Anderson & Son Memorial Park.

"Tony" Merritty was pronounced dead on arrival at the Macon County General Hospital on Saturday, 11 December 1999 from injuries sustained in a horse related accident.

A native of Davidson County, TN, he was the son of Mark and Kim Merritt, who survive. He was preceded in death by a sister, Stevie Merritt, maternal grandmother, Dona Schewe, and paternal grandfather, Bill Merritt. He was a studen at Macon County High School where he was a member of the junior class.

Survivors besides his parents include; sisters, Markie and Charlie Merritt, paternal grandmother, Mary Frances Merritt, all of the New Harmony Community of Macon County, and maternal grandfather, Dick Schewe, of Lexington, KY.

Pauline Meador,

88, a resident of Knollwood Manor in Lafayette, TN, died Saturday, November 20, 1999 at Macon County General Hospital in Lafayette. She was born Monday, February 6, 1911, in Macon County, TN, a daughter of the late Jim Parker and Molly Hughes Parker, and was a homemaker and a member of Long Creek Missionary Baptist Church. She was married to Forest Meador, who died June 21, 1966.

Survivors include three daughters and a son-in-law; Shirlan Meador, Lafayette, TN; Gwendolyn and Billy Smith, Dixon Springs, TN; and Wilma McMillan, Murfreesboro, TN; four sons and daughters-in-law, Wayne and Ruby Meador and Gordon and Ruth Meador, of Lafayette, TN; Fred and Gail Meador, Nashville, TN; and Roger and Doris Meador, Smyrna, TM; fifteen grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by 2 grandchildren, Oal McMillan and Tracy Meador; 2 brothers, Lester Parker and Lloyd Parker, and 3 sisters, Lassie Franklin, Lamon Johns, and Lillie Smith.

Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 pm, Sunday, November 21, 1999 at the Alexander-Goad Funeral Home Chapel, Lafayette, TN with Eld. Thomas Earl Roark and Eld. Billy Joe Shoulders officiating. Burial will be in Macon County Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Barry Meador, Ronald Meador, Ricky Meador, Mikie Meador, Robby Meador and David Wayne Meador. Visitation will be after 2 pm, Saturday at Alexander-Goad Funeral Home.

Norma Milinda Murray,

92, a resident of The Palace in Red Boiling Springs, TN, and formerly of the Enon Community, died Monday, November 29, 1999 at Macon County General Hospital in Lafayette. She was born Sunday, February 10, 1907, in Macon County, Tennessee, a daughter of the late Charlie Biles and Elizabeth Deckard Biles, and was a homemaker and a member of Enon Missionary Baptist Church. She was married to Tilvis Andrew Murray, who passed away February 26, 1969.

Survivors include one daughter, Lorene Coulter, of the Enon Community; one son and daughter-in-law, Genie and Nellie Murray, Gamaliel, KY; two daughters-in-law, Daffo Murray and Patsy Murray, both of the Enon Community; eleven grandchildren and twenty five great-grandchildren, and several great great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by a sister, Vadie Andrews and 2 brothers, Carlos Biles and Andrew Biles.

Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 pm, Wednesday, December 1, 1999 at the Enon Missionary Baptist Church with Eld. J. E. Shoulders and Eld. Terry Austin officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Kenneth Murray, Richard Murray, Rex Murray, David Presley, Wayne Longmires and Lloyd Andrews. Visitation will be after 3 pm, Tuesday at Alexander-Goad Funeral Home.

Mildred Inez Meador,

88, of the Rocky Mound Community in Macon County, died Friday, October 1, 1999 at Royal Care of Westmoreland. She was born Sunday, November 20, 1910, in Macon County, TN, a daughter of the late Elijah P. Meador and Bessie Bera Bradley Meador. Inez was a homemaker and the oldest living member of Rocky Mound Missionary Baptist Church, where she joined in 1921. On October 13, 1924, she was married to Fred Meador, who preceded her in death on October 10, 1974.

Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Louise and Earl Keen of the Rocky Mound Community; three sons and daughters-in-law, Billy W. and Jeannie Meador, LaFayette, TN; Joe and Dianne Meador, Westmoreland, TN; and James R. and Mary Ruth Meador, Chickamauga, GA; nine grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren, 9 great-great grandchildren, four step-grandchildren and five step-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by a son, Jessie Ray Meador and a sister, Lorene Meador.

Funeral services were conducted at 3:00 pm, Sunday, October 3, 1999 at the Rocky Mound Missionary Baptist Church with Eld. Thomas R. Carter and Eld. Ricky White officiating. Burial was in Rocky Mound Cemetery. Pallbearers were Kenny Meador, Mike Meador, Jeff Johnson, Jonathan Dean, Kevin Johnson and Ryan Hartley.

Clyde McCullough

Graveside funeral services for Clyde McCullough, age 71, of the Hillsdale Community, of Macon County, Tn, were conducted Sunday, July 11, 1999 in the Anderson & Son Memorial Park with Reverend Gene McCullough officiating. Pallbearers were family members.

Clyde McCullough passed away Saturday, July 10, 1999 at the Macon County General Hospital in LaFayette, TN.

A native of Cannon County, TN, he was the son of the late Eugene and Beatrice Paterson McCullough. He was married to the former Margaret Jackson on June 6, 1949, who survives. He was a retired truck driver with Consolidated Freight Ways in Nashville.

Besides his wife of 50 years, he is survived by: daughters, Elaine Hagar, Mt. Juliet, Billie Holloway, Mt. Juliet, Sons, David and Roger McCullough of the Hillsdale Community, Sisters, Frances St. Charles, Maine, Judy Green, Manchester, Jackie McCluchen, Manchester, Brother, Reverend Gene McCullough, Burns, and 7 grandchildren.

Florene Painter Maxey,

Funeral services for Florene Painter Maxey, age 78, of Red Boiling Springs, TN, were conducted Tuesday, August 10, 1999 at 1:00 pm from the Phillip Anderson & Son Funeral Home Chapel in Red Boiling Springs with Jimmy Cook officating. Interment was in Hermitage Springs Cemetery. Pallbearers were Keith Tillman, Dannie Green, James Chitwood, Johnny Marshall, Jimmy Davis, and Calvin Potts.

Florence Painter Maxey passed away Sunday, August 8, 1999 at Mariner Health Care in Lebanon, TN. She was born in Jackson County, Tennessee to John George Painter and the late Gillie May Watson Painter.

Besides her 110 year old father, she is survived by a daughter, Joan Tillman, LaFayette, Son, P.J. Maxey, Hermitage Srpings, Sister, Doris Potts, Mt. Juliet. Devoted companion, Walter Webb, Celina, three grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Maxey was a retired Garment factory worker and a member of the Hermitage Springs Missionary Baptist Church.

Henry Paul Meador,

Age 86, of LaFayette, TN passed away on 15 July 1999 at Knollwood Manor, LaFayette. Born on 03 January 1913 in Macon County, Mr. Meador was the son of Joe Wilson Meador and Minnie Adge Meador. He married Gracie Green on 21 December 1935, who survives.

Services for Mr. Meador were conducted on 17 July 1999 in the Chapel of Phillip Anderson & Son Funeral Home in LaFayette with Ron Roberson officiating. Interment followed in the Anderson & Son Memorial Park.

Survivors, other than his wife, include daughters and son-in-laws, Launa and Bobby Sircy, LaFayette, and JoAnn & Miles King, LaFayette. Sisters: Mrs. Velma Polston, and Mrs. Ruby Swindle of LaFayette, Mrs. Dorothy Brooks, Indianapolis, Indiana; and Mrs. Bonnie Walton of Nashville. A granddaughter, Mrs. Stacy Gregory of LaFayette, Grandson Kyle Sircy, LaFayette and Great Grandson Chase Gregory, LaFayette. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters: Jewell Haley and Georgia Guinn and three brothers: Louie, Herbert and Ernest Meador.

Mr. Meador was a member of the LaFayette Church of Christ and a retired employee of the Tennessee Department of Transportation with 35 years of service. He was also a member of LaFayette Masonic Lodge #543.

Randall Lee Marshall

Funeral services for Randall Lee Marshall, age 35, of Red Boiling Springs, TN were conducted Friday, June 11, 1999 from the Phillip Anderson & Son Funeral Home Chapel in Red Boiling Springs by Reverend Steve Bode, Jimmy Cook, and Reverend Russell Trotter. Pallbearers were John Cook, Danny Buck, George Kipp, Colin Grant-Adams, Danny Green, and Jason Phillips. Interment in the Smith Chapel Cemetery.

Randall Marshall passed away Tuesday, June 8, 1999 at the Jackson County Hospital in Gainesboro, TN.

A native of Jackson County, North Carolina, he was the son of Mary Lee Wilson Marshall Kipp and the late Ray Edward Marshall. He was married to the former Delila Phillips on October 14, 1994. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in LaFayette, TN.

Survivors, besides his wife and mother, include a daughter, Rachel Marshall, son, Christopher Marshall, sister, Vicki Buck and grandmother, Mrs. Mae Kipp, all of Red Boiling Springs, TN.

Jesse Beasley Masssey, Jr.

Funeral Services for Mr. Jesse Beasley Massey, Jr., age 77 of Porter Rd. LaFayette, TN, were conducted Sunday afternoon, 11 April 1999 at 3:00 pm from the Phillip Anderson & Son Funeral Home in LaFayette by Elder Wesley Briley and Elder Doug Curtis. Honorary Pallbearers were Danny Hall, Larry Wagoner, Roger Wheeler, Jeff Wheeler. Active Pallbears were Bernice Jones, Lerlay Jones, Ransom Jenkins, Glen Ray, Jimmy Dallas, Carl Trent, Gary Kemp, Jackie Smith. Interment was in the Anderson & Son Memorial Park with full military honors.

Mr. Massey passed away Saturday morning 10 April 1999 at his residence.

A native of Trousdale County, the son of Mrs. Thellie Oldham Massey of LaFayette and the late Jesse Beasley Massey, Sr. He was married to the former Emogene Taylor, 03 September 1946, who survives. He was a member of the Dixon Creek Missionary Baptist Church, a farmer, a WWII veteran and an employee of the Macon County Highway Department.

Survivors, besides his wife and mother include daughters, Mrs. Jessica Matthews, Carthage, Mrs. Teresa Pope, Smyrna, Mrs. Tammy Seals, Gallatin; son, Stanley Massey, Donelson; sisters, Mrs. Obera Morgan, Westmoreland, TN, Mrs. Marie Gregory and Mrs. Thelma Lee Gregory both of Indianapolis, IN, Mrs. Barbara Claridy, Donelson, Mrs. Marylin Goodman, LaFayette; brothers, Maurice Massey, LaFayette, Burton Massey and Brice Massey both of Donelson; five grandchildren.

Eld. William Osley McClard,

93, of 1215 Hollis Lane, LaFayette, TN, died Monday, April 5, 1999 at his residence. He was born Tuesday, January 9, 1906, in Macon County, Tennessee, a son of the late Noah McClard and Dora Cothron McClard, and was a retired farmer. He was an ordained Missionary Baptist Church minister and a member of Meadorville Missionary Baptist Church. He was married on 0ct. 3, 1926 to Ruthie Sallie Oldham McClard, who survives.

Survivors include his wife of over 72 years, Ruthie Sally Oldham McClard; one daughter, Marell Carr; one son and daughter-in-law, Jimmie and Betty McClard, all of LaFayette, TN; twelve grandchildren; Roger McClard, Jerry McClard, Kenny McClard, Andy McClard, Jean Shrum, Pam Gregory, Jill Flippin, Mike McClard, Cheri Keller, Katrina Carr, Kendra Garmon, and Kellye Carr; nineteen great-grandchildren, David McClard, Debbie Brown, Brad McClard, Renee McClard, Jason McClard, Jamie Worrell, Austin McClard, Travis Shrum, Lora Gregory, Evan Gregory, Jessica Flippin, Micah McClard, Jason Campbell, Josh Campbell, Tamara Cornwell, Heath Keller, Nathan Keller, Kyle Garmon, and Brandi Garmon; and four great-great-grandchildren, David McClard, Andrea McClard, McKayla McClard, and Lindsay Whitley. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, William Daley "Monk" McClard, a grandson, Byron McClard, 2 brothers, John McClard and Howard McClard, and 3 sisters, Lula Belle Richardson, Leona White, and Minnie Frances Jenkins.

Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 pm, Wednesday, April 7, 1999 at the Alexander-Goad Funeral Home Chapel, LaFayette, TN with Eld. Harold Dean Linville and Eld. Morris Cothron officiating. Burial will be in Macon County Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be at the Alexander-Goad Funeral Home after 5 pm Monday.

Velva Hudson Massey

Funeral services for Mrs. Velva Hudson Massey, age 88, of Red Boiling Springs, TN were conducted Thursday, May 27, 1999 at 11:00 am from the Phillip Anderson & Son Funeral Home Chapel in Red Boiling Springs with Gene Carter officiating. Interment was in the Whitley Cemetery in Red Boiling Springs. Pallbearers were: Terry Lynch, Billy Holliman, Brian Massey, William Fay Massey, Ronnie Hudson, and Lawrence Hollis.

Mrs. Velva Hudson Massey passed away Tuesday, May 25, 1999 at the Macon County General Hospital in LaFayette, TN.

She was a native of Jackson County and the daughter of the late John "Bunk" and Lula Franklin Hudson. She was preceded in death by two sons, Dennis and John Massey. She was married on November 20, 1939 to Malcolm Massey, who preceded her in death on December 27, 1983. She was a homemaker and a member of the Bakerton Church of Christ.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Geneva Massey Ferguson, Red Boiling Springs, Son and daughter-in-law, Benton and June Massey, Red Boiling Springs, Sister, Mrs. Gana Hollis, Red Boiling Springs, grandchildren, Ms. Rita Massey, Janie Ferguson, Terry Lynch, Garry Lynch, Brian Massey, all of Red Boiling Springs and Great-grandchildren, Cassey Lynch, Shauna Ferguson, and Eric Jones, all of Red Boiling Springs.

James Lucas Moss,

Graveside services for James Lucas Moss, infant son of James and Lori Hunter Moss of Red Boiling Springs were conducted Sunday afternoon, 11 April 1999 at 2:00 pm from Smith Chapel Cemetery by Pastor Randy Roper.

James Lucas passed away Thursday morning 08 April 1999 at the University Medical Center in Lebanon.
