The garish glow
red-yellow like
a painter’s night
found my weakness
behind my fear
he wasn’t the only one
dying here

In the arcane glow
I lean on the railing
and see his face in
the shattered glass
the black pavement
glitters with night dust
and i think,
I never got to say goodbye

In the welcome glow
I lean on my God
and now I see his face in
the shimmering gates,
the golden pavement
glitters with His love
and i realize,
I never needed to say goodbye
