You do not know me
My name means nothing to you
and sometimes little to me.
I want you to know
that one of you did something bad to me
and i cannot be free, can't sleep without fighting, can't watch without crying
can't touch - can't love someones who deserve it
until I know
this will not happen again.
I am worried not so much about myself
(it could be worse, is the age-old chant)
as about those millions and millions
of women who used to be
your little girls
and the little girls who
will be women like me someday.
Don't make her so afraid of your shadow
that she becomes afraid to have her own
Don't take her over with feelings she
Has no use for at her young age
don't give her expectations she can't meet..they'll become other people's eyes
and she'll lose herself because
you demanded she find
some way to please you.
Men, love your daughters
Don't love us to death.
