such a baby
grow up, grow up
get out from under your halo for five seconds
it’s getting rusty under there you know
women are wet creatures
and infants are short suckled on what we call
the real world
wipe off the pixie dust
grow up grow up
come down
normal life is not so commonplace
look at me, i turned out fine
(a little jaded but who isn't? besides you)
you are such a saint i wonder
why i still love you
why i still wonder if there is a good time out there for you
earthly pleasures and their ilk are no friends of yours
but if you cannot find a pleasure while you are here..at least for the time being
where will the rest of us leave you?
because we cannot wait for your glitter and ribbons to chip and unravel
your dreams never die, your shine never fades, your illusions are never
betrayed by a missing mirror, a forgotten sleight of hand
be stronger in the fact that your life is not what you always wanted
be smarter in the knowledge that dreams die, hopes fade, mirrors break grow up and please
stop brushing your long sweet hair and
brush off the naivete from your eyes
you’re going blind looking for glimmers in slagheaps like this
and you’re drowning below an ocean you can’t magick away
with soft pink sexless wishes
there’s a man waiting for you
there’s a life that isn’t hell
make-believe gets old and so do children
grow up grow up
and know that i want you to realize
how much - sometimes i wish our roles were reversed.
