WHY ARE DOVES WHITE? written by Gail Batton - #47 - 5/26/90 Have you ever wondered why - doves are always white The ones you see describing - The Holy Spirit - Who is the Spirit of God? We had two doves of purest white A few years ago at home They called to one another - Even during the wee hours so late They were gentle and beautiful Especially when in flight Each feather was perfectly - arranged in place They were always grooming - and keeping clean A peace you could have - just watching them As they softly cooed to their mate And every now and then, THEY'D LAUGH!! No, crazy I am not A real human sounding chuckle Would rise up from their throat How many times when I watched my doves I thought of the Holy Ghost So pure and spotless - gentle with peace Yet with a sense of humor For to live within a human being And survive all our blunders and err's This Holy Dove would have to laugh Now and again - or cry! Yes - white is the color of the Dove For white is a  sign of purity - clean The color of our skin does not matter For when He lives within - we're clean A symbol of Holiness - pure Have you ever wondered why - doves are always white?
