STAYED BEHIND (written by Gail Batton - 11/8/94 - Tuesday - 11:45 p.m.) The cruise was scheduled - the ship on time; Bags in order - passports cleared; All was a ready - excitement on high; The cruise of a lifetime, The ticket fully paid. My time of rest - resort My time of full enjoyment Nothing would hinder All plans fulfilled The bell was rung The ramp was lowered Shouts of glee I was so thrilled to leave BUT  - I glanced behind I saw  one child Standing  all alone  in rags Tears staining a dirty face Barefooted - begging for crumbs I could not go - I stayed behind For as long as one more needs me I cannot go.
