FIELD OF GOLD
(written by Gail Batton - 5/17/90 - #22)
One day after work - while on my way home
I was tired and so weary - and worn to the bone
Not thinking of where - I was headed that day
I went past my road - far out of the way
So, on top of all else - at myself I was mad
I took another route home - and I was feeling so
bad
I slowed the car down - and looked to my right
There was a field of gold - going clear out of sight
As I stopped and I gazed - something stirred in my
heart
For with buttercups galore - God showed me heaven
in part
A peace calmed my mind - as I pondered and thought
On streets of gold we'll walk - is what the Bible
taught
When you're down and alone - see how good God can
be
As His beauty you behold - in His field of gold.
