Here it is...my infamous SECOND meeting with Teri. It was pretty cool how it all happened so read on to get the rest of the story!!!
It was June 14th, 2000 and Teri was doing an indy show in White Pine, TN for the AWA Superstars of Wrestling promotion at the Great Smoky Mountain Fair. Now people you have to understand this is like a really small community and this fair is like a really big deal here...I was like T in White Pine...How cool!!! About ten minutes away from the town I live in by the way...hehehe. Anyway, I got to the Expo Center about ten til six. The autograph session was scheduled at six so I had to hurry. Now we're talking walking across the fairgrounds, up tons of stairs it seemed like in about 85 to 90 degree weather in black pants...so yeah I headed for a ladies room as soon as I got in the building to freshen up.
Well I did find a ladies room and to be honest I guess in the back of my mind I was kinda hoping to run into T there maybe getting ready for the show or whatever, you know makeup and all...hehehe. Let's just call it wishful thinking. Anyway, I peered around the door and I was right...nobody...so of course I did the thing us ladies do in the restroom in front of a mirror...when I glanced over and saw Teri come out of a stall. Okay so my wishful thinking worked...Here was T and all I could do was continue primping.*L* She looked over with a casual "Hello" and I was like "Hey". Then I had to ask the DUMBEST question,"Are you Teri?" I asked. Duh, Leslie, I thought. Let me tell ya I felt about as small as an ant. I mean tiny. T was nice about it though was like "Uh yeah". Then I said,"I'm Leslie, Carrie's friend, the girl who writes you all the time, the WalMart thing"(You'd have to know what I'm talking about...Nevermind)and she had this 'No way' kinda expression. You know she said she would have never thought I'd actually be there. Anyway we talked for a few minutes. It was kinda funny how all this time we had been writing and she was thinking I was from New Jersey, but people I'm from Tennessee*LOL*. Anyway, we said our goodbyes and she said she'd see me during the show and at the autograph session.
The crowd was extremely small and the show well wasn't that good. But it was fun. T made a couple appearances(introduced as WCW Nitro Girl Fyre) as she came out to "American Woman" blasting out from the PA system. Coolness!!! Anyway, fast forward...since the autograph session wasnt held at the beginning because the show had to get underway, it was held afterwards. T and a couple of the guys had a table set up at the entrance to the expo center. Of course I got other autographs and made sure I was the last one in Teri's line so we could chat some more. And that we did, it was great. Before leaving, she autographed a pic for me signed "Leslie, Friends Forever! Teri". Now okay you gotta understand it was $5.00 for a pic. Well, I went to hand her the money and she was like just keep it. Not to mention that according to my mom, she had signed everyone else's "Fyre" from what she could see but we're not for sure...now how cool was that. She also took another picture with me!!! I'll try to get the autograph pic scanned so you guys can see it and other pics I took at the show. Anyway, we chatted for a few and said our goodbyes. It was so so so AWESOME and Teri was so so so NICE. If you guys ever get the chance to meet her dont pass it up whether it's your first time or whatever. I do promise you wont be disappointed and that what I'm telling you about Teri is all truth. She truly is the best!!!
To Teri, girl if you ever see this thanks for being so nice to me then and the other time we met and everytime I write. You know you dont have to be so good to your fans but you are and we appreciate that. You take care and be careful on the road!!!*HUGZ*
Well that's it...my second meeting with Teri. Hope you all enjoyed reading about it and remember keeping supporting Teri, TeriByrne.com and the fan club!!!
