The icon of the new generasion of women's tennis has arrived! Anna kournikova! She was born in the Soviet Union and is competing for Russia. Her home for the most of the time is in Florida where she trains with her coach Nick Bolitierri.

She was born on the 7th of June 1981 in Moscow, Russia.

She started playing tennis at the age of 5 with other friends. In February of 1992 she moved to the Nick Bolitierri Tennis Academy in Bradenton, Florida, to be with her coach. At the end of 1995 she was the ITF's Junior World Champion Rancked No.1. She won the Orange Bowl 18s, the 1995 European Championships , and the 1995 Italian Open Juniors.

She was a 1995 Wimbeldon Juniors Semi-Finalist, and a 1995 French Open Juniors Quarter-Finalist. As a qualifier, she won her first professional title at a 1996 ITF Women's Circuit satellite event in Midland, Michigan, USA, where she collected wins over Julie Steven, Jana Nejedly, Rene Simpson, Tami Whitlinger-Jones and Lindsay Lee. Directly after winning the tournament, she flew to Oklahoma City in time to win her first-round qualifying match the same day. As the fifth seed, she earned her second pro title at an ITF Women's Circuit satellite event in Rockford, Illinois, USA, where she collected wins against Sonya Jeyaseelan, Tara Snyder, and Yuka Yoshida.

Her biggest success to date was making it to the Semi-Finals at Wimbledon, after which she achieved her highest yet ranking of 25 when she lost to Martina Hingis. It won't be long before Anna beats Hingis and moves into the world's No.1 spot!
