It was 10 o'clock when Emily and the Birthday Bunch headed out of the mall and crawled into the limo. This is 4 hours later than Chealse had planned to get home. ‘What if Ike tried to call?' she thought to herself. Emily and Taylor where enjoying themselves in the hot tub, so she picked up the phone and dialed their grandmother's number. It rang 5 times before someone picked up.
"Hello," came a youthful voice, which was full of anxiety and worry.
"Who is this?" Chealse asked.
"Chealse, is that you? This is Zac. Put Tay on," Zac said. Chi-Chi pulled the phone from the ear and handed it to Taylor. Emily looked at her inquisitively. Chealse shrugged and asked, What's that on your neck?"
"Can you see it? Can you really see it?" Emily's hand shot up to cover the now darkening and soon to be hickey.
"Sure Zac, we're on our way home," Tay hung the phone up.
"What's up?" Emily asked changing the subject.
"We gotta get home," replied Taylor. No one said anything more, and got dried off.
~ At the Girl's house ~
When the limo pulled up at the Snyder's house, Zac ran out the door, yanked Emily out and urged Tay to hurry up.
"What's up?" asked Chealse.
"Dad'll tell you," Zac said. They stepped into the house, all the Hansons where there, and Mrs. Snyder was there too.
"Please tell us what's going on around here!" Emily almost yelled. Walker moved to turn on the T.V. This report was the result...
"Just 2 hours ago, Pres. Smith declared war on the Middle East, due to the bomb threats on Europe and the American settlements in the South Pacific. The Coast Guard spotted 12 Bombers from these trouble-making countries. The Eastern and Middle parts of the U.S. are in a warning and people in these areas are advised to take cover as soon as possible." Walker switch off the tube and looked at everyone, "I need Ike to help with the supplies. Ladies if you would start to set up the basement with beds and such. Zac and Taylor, you go get food and the first aid kit from the car."
~Half an hour later~
Everything was gathered and stored. The T.V. now said that 2 of the Bombers have been shot down of the original 12. Oklahoma, Missouri, and Nebraska could expect the fighters in another hour. Now all that was left to do was wait, and for the girls worry about their parents. They had still not sent any word. Everyone went to bed soon after that.
At about 2 in the morning the whole house was shaken out of sleep by what sounded like a tornado siren.
"What is that?" Zac asked rubbing the sleep from his eye.
"Oh shit, I know that sound." Ike said.
"It's the Bombers!" screamed Megan. She didn't know how right she was.
The bombing lasted 15 minutes, afterwards the girls snuggled up next to her guy and soon fell asleep.
