This is the sequel to "Inferno!", however this is Leo's P.O.V. about the scuffle with Trakeena and the Sting wingers, as well as wrestling with his feelings towards Kendrix. The concept of "Power Rangers Lost Galaxy" do not belong to me, and the song is property of N*SYNC. Many thanx to Umesh and his PRLG music video library for the inspiration. Feedback is welcome and encouraged.

After thoughts

By: Lady Khayman (ladykhayman@yahoo.com)

Hitting his head on the underside of Kai's bunk, Leo growled and decided to walk off the tension. Jumping into a pair of jeans and pulling on a red T-shirt he stalked to the forest dome, in search of some peace of mind. And 40 winks wasn't a bad idea either.

Landing on a tuffet of grass he sat back and watched the blue full moon bathe the woods, sheening it with a ghostly, mysterious aura. Or perhaps it was the Alfred Hitchcock marathon Leo had spent half the night up hopelessly glued to the TV screen, in desperation to distract his thoughts from the Sting wingers... and her.

His mind was racing with a million strategies, Trakeena and her cronies were catching up to them. He liked to think the Galaxy Rangers were three steps ahead of the villainous queen, when she thought to be one step ahead of the Rangers.

But Leo heeded his elder brother's warning, and tried not to think oneself to be great when there is still much to learn. Lusting after victory, at the expense of the practical. Lust- one of the seven deadly sins, something he was no stranger to when Kendrix was about.

While Posing as Caroline Pickets, she was asked to do a photo spread for Splash! swimsuit magazine and taking everyone by surprise she did a pseudo-topless bikini pictorial. A myriad of beach-related articles such as towels, coconut cups, even a pair of pink diving flippers were meticulously positioned, blocking the view of her pert bosom.

Risque, however it made both Kendrix and Caroline twice as popular. But a twinge of jealousy rippled through him- despite everything they had bore as Rangers, not once did she acknowledge him as nothing more as a friend and teammate.

They virtually had everything against them: she was a respected GSA officer, he a stowaway, Kendrix held a high ranking position in the R&D Science division. One literally had to be a descendant of Newton or Darwin to earn a place there, he scored high on the GSA entrance exam only to resign after a few hours. Regimentation was no friend of his.

Last and certainly least, Kai Chen was a worthy opponent for Kendrix' heart. But, as Leo mentally backtracked wasn't it a full two days before Kai let Damon wolf down the piece of wedding cake that Hannah so graciously sent him?

And didn't he tow Leo about Terra Venture Commons for a whole day in search of the 'perfect picture frame' when he received yet another joyous memento from Hannah's sister's wedding- a photo of Hannah in a cerulean satin bridesmaid gown.

Somebody up there liked the Red Galaxy Ranger. Lacing his fingers together behind his head, Leo grinned wickedly and lay on the tuffet to some well-deserved sleep. But before his head landed on the grass, the screech of the Pink Wildcat Galactabeast roused him.

The inescapable rumble in the pit of his stomach told him she wasn't well. He ran through the foliage, his burning skin streaked with dew and dirt and came to an abrupt halt when he saw Kendrix and Maya perched on a log before the Wildcat and Lion Galactabeasts.

"I just don't know what to do, Maya."

"Kendrix, the only thing I could advise you to do is follow your heart." Lolling her head back, the Pink Ranger took off her titanium-framed spectacles and faced her best friend.

"I've tried numerous times to tell Leo. But every time the chance arises, I choke up. I think it's hopeless for us."

Baby, I don't understand

Just why we can't be lovers

Things are getting out of hand

Tryin' too much but baby we can win

Let it go, if you want me girl let me know

I am down on my knees

I can't take it anymore

The tears welled up in the Red Ranger's eyes and saw a shadow of sorrow overtake his Galactabeast. The Wildcat mewed and hunched back on her hind legs and rest her head on her paws. "They feel it too," Maya commented.

"What could the Galactabeasts feel?" Kendrix swiped at her damp eyes before looking up. Maya sharply inhaled the fresh simulated night air and felt a red flame near to their vicinity. She determined that Leo was somewhere nearby, and she prayed to the gods that he would hear these goings-on.

"When I was young girl, Jera had told me that when a young woman meets her true love her heart is weighed down with the pain of uncertainty. Will he accept her for who she is, or succumb to his desires of the flesh and choose another to only feed his fantasies. Leo thinks of no one but you.”

"Care to explain Ginger, O Wise One?" Kendrix propped her chin in her hands.

It's tearin' up my heart

When I'm with you,

But when we are apart I feel it too

And no matter what I feel or do

I feel the pain with or without you

Standing up on the log she leapt and somersaulted onto the damp earth a several feet away. Maya then strutted over to a copse of trees. "Why don't you let Leo field this one!" She practically uprooted a redwood as she pulled down a few branches and Leo stumbled out, falling face down.

"Leo!"

The Red Ranger thought it best to go for a charm play. "Nice night for a walk ladies." Kendrix's sienna eyes glistened with fury like highly polished marbles. "Kendrix, I know what you're going to say...”

"Indeed! How long were you creeping about back there?!" She whipped around letting him only face her back.

"C'mon guys," Maya said referring to the Galactabeasts. "Let's give them a few moments." The beasts trotted behind the lone Mirinoian as they made their way back to the relative peace of the brush. Maya tried to block the clamoring of Leo and Kendrix's heated confrontation.

Baby don't misunderstand

What I'm tryin' to tell you

In the corner of my mind,

Baby it feels like we're runnin' out of time

Let it go if you want me girl let me know

I am down on my knees

I can't take it anymore....

Tearin' up my heart and soul,

When we're apart I feel it too

And no matter what I do I'll feel the pain

With or without you

The mountains were silent once more. Maya began to panic when she didn't feel Kendrix's blossom or Leo's flame, and sprinted back to the grove. Stealthily she crouched low on a bough and saw the pink and red-clad figures locked in a passionate embrace.

They parted and then moved lightly letting the now dawn's magenta chiaroscuro dance between them as Leo tasted Kendrix's lips. Her hand reached for her transmorpher and Maya saw them swept away in the teleportation beam.

A few wyile tears escaped Maya's eye. "You had your chance Maya, but was he really ever yours? Live for the both of them, if just not for him."
