Rose backed up slowly as the Worgen moved in on her with saliva dripping from its fangs.  Its piercing red eyes seemed to cut her flesh open before itÕs claws had the opportunity.  The Worgen stalked around her slowly as it crept closer as if it enjoyed the anticipation of ripping in to her flesh with its jagged claws.  Her companions were too far to hear her over the growling and howling and over all madness of the fight going on all too many yards away from her.  Rose couldnÕt back up any further as she came up to a large tree.  She gripped the bark and waited for her ravenous murderer to pounce.  It crept closer to her, its growls getting deeper it inhaled with its long snout and howled into the sky as if it was exhilarated by the smell of her fear.

ÒPrincess!Ó A guard shouted from yards away.  Both the Worgen and Rose shifted their attention and only moments later an arrow pierced the leg of the Worgen.  It groaned in pain from the head of the arrow piecing its rough leathery skin and digging itself deep in the WorgenÕs muscle.  Rose took this opportunity to make her escape.  She wildly flung herself around saw her exit.  Rose jumped and grabbed onto a sturdy branch of the tree she was backed against.  Mustering all of her strength she pulled herself up and wrapped her legs around the branch and rolled herself over to the top, still clinging for her life.  The Worgen pulled the arrow from its calf and saw that his prey had escaped.  It gazed around and then heard the snap of the bark coming from above.  It fixed its gaze on Rose and seemingly went mad as it growled at her in a furiously deep, bone-chilling shriek.  In a frenzy it began to dig its claws into wood of the tree, peeling long strands of the thick bark right off as if it were the skin of an apple.  Rose braced herself against the mighty tree and got to her as the branch wobbled.

She grabbed her bow and unsheathed an arrow from her quiver and quickly shot it at the Worgen as it made itÕs way up the tree.  It pierced the beastÕs shoulder blade and forced it back down to the forest floor.  It would not keep it down for long however and soon the ravenous wolf man began to tear again at the bark of the tree, slowly making its way up to Rose.  Rose grabbed another arrow and pointed it at the monster, but it swung its massive claw and struck the arrow, cutting it in two and causing Rose to lose her balance slightly and dropping the bow.  Rose watched in horror as her only weapon fell to the dark green grass below.  The Worgen threw its large claw up at her again, lacerating her back, leaving three long cuts along her back.  Her cloak and parts of her shirt were slashed and followed her bow down to the ground as she groaned in pain.  The shrill cry of her pain echoed throughout the shadowy forest.  Tomas and her guards could hear her in distress and though they were in danger themselves, they began to move the fight, following the sound of her wail.

The Worgen was driven even madder by the shedding of her blood on its razor sharp claws.  It slashed more at her but missed in its frenzy.  Rose backed against the base of the tree and leaned as much in the opposite direction of the Worgen as she could.  Her back was ignited with pain as it brushed against the tree.  Desperately she looked around for a way out.  She could jump but the Worgen could easily jump as well and land right on top of her.  The tree was no longer safe.  She looked up and saw there was another branch above her.  Rose frantically began to jump for the branch, but it seemed to be just out of her reach.  The Worgen was only moments from reaching her.  Rose carefully stepped away from the base of the tree and towards the outer reaches of the branch extending her arms to help her stay balanced.  The ravenous Worgen crawled onto the branch and began to snap its fangs at her.

In a last ditch effort Rose jumped once more, praying sheÕd reach the branch.  Rose wrapped her hands around the sturdy branch much to her shock.  She knew sheÕd have only moments before the Worgen would become even more enraged at her and attack to prevent her escape.  She swung her legs forward and struck the Worgen.  The beast stepped back from the blow as Rose swung her legs forward again, knocking it back furiously.  Rose twisted her body and swung her legs again hitting the Worgen in the side of its head, knocking it off the branch.  The beast slammed hard onto the ground.  Rose looked down still hanging from the branch praying that the beast would not get up.  She sighed as the Worgen slowly got back up.  It would not stay up long however as Tomas came rushing at with his sword, slashing at its chest.  The beast was dead.  They were all dead.  Rose carefully climbed down from the tree and with every movement of the muscles on her back she clenched her teeth holding in her agony.  Tomas reached up as she was slowly making her way down from the branch and grabbed her, helping her down the rest of the way.  He sat her down and began to examine the cuts on her back.

ÒYouÕre lucky my lady.  These wounds are not deep.Ó He told her before rummaging through his pack for first aid supplies.
