Clear Water is essential for growing intrinsic marijuana plants that qualify as kosher for consumption. As the government adds chlorine, fluoride and ozone to tap water, it creates a tough environment for microbes to survive except by mutation from the naturally occurring radioactive isotopes. It's not practical anymore for irrigation or even drinking.
The plant must be grown hydroponically in an appropriate ambient atmosphere, nourished with the correct wavelength of light, and fed clear water, and those compounds that are considered nutrients for the plant only. Even the container in the hydro lab must meet specifications, and this means mostly that it must not dissolve into the nutrient solution. Pyrex may be an acceptable container whereas plastic is not as marijuana is smoked by the consumer.
After the plant is harvested it may be cured to eliminate unwanted compounds, or processed into a more kosher form known as Hashish.
