Welcome to the May issue of the WEATHERFUN Newsletter.

Words From Jerry
Hello Weatherfun members, and welcome to the May issue of the Weatherfun newsletter.

Well, I sure hope that the weather has improved for you in your location. Up here in Rhode Island as you know, we had a 90 degree day, but ever since that time the weather had gone down hill. We have had several days of rain here in the Northeast, and some severe weather down in Lynn's area. Even with all of the rain that we have had, we will still come up about one inch below normal for the month of April. So the drought warning is still on in my area. We have even had some snow not too far from me. As I have said in the past we have had snow as late as May the 7th, so I guess we are not out of the woods as of yet.

The big news of course if that we will be having the grand opening of our new website: www.weatherfun.net on May the 6th.

Richard Foreman is our webmaster, and he ran the idea before me of getting our own domain name, and a new website. I thought it was a good idea and I went ahead and purchased the domain name, and website.

Most of you have seen the results of the new site, and I think we are well on our way to making Weatherfun even a greater group than we are now. As Steve said earlier this past week, even the Weather Channel has recognized us. So, we are on the way, and we are up there with the top weather groups on the net. I know of a professional weatherman up here who has his own group on the net, and also a website. Well, he is a professional, but I dare to say that our site beats his by a long shot. So, all the work, and the purchase of the domain name will be well worth it.

But, again we need your support for it continue to be a good group. Richard has done the hard work, now lets all continue to post regularly to your group, and also our new website.

How about this? How about everyone posting at least a website or two from your state to our new website. Let's see if we can get at least one good weather related website from each state.

Thanks folks for your continued support to Weatherfun.

Did You Know?

The most dramatic temperature rise in world weather records happened in Spearfish, N.D. in 1943. They saw the temperature rise 45 degrees from -4 degrees F to 45 degrees above zero in just 2 minutes! That occurred at 7:30 am. At 9 am the temperature was a springlike 54 degrees, but by 9:27 am it had dropped again to -4 degrees F. All of this caused by an incredible Chinook wind. Plate glass cracked as a result of the wild temperature swings.
