Jeff D. Carpenter
"Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to introduce myself to you. My name is Jeffrey Carpenter. I am a resident of three years in Parkfairfax. I love our community and the great neighbors that I have met here."

Welcome to the Jeff D. Carpenter for Board of Directors campaign website!

Remember, Wednesday, April 21st is Election Day!

This site provides information about my background and stance on some major issues, as well as local news and links to various government resources.
There are two reasons I got off the couch and decided to run for the At Large Board of Directors position:
1) The number of administrative rules governing our community and the subsequent volume of violation letters that are mailed to us. I have talked to many of you who have received frustrating notices for minor "infractions" including:
Bullet  A porch chair that was tipped over by the wind;
Bullet  An empty flower pot on the owner's porch (during winter);
Bullet  A home that had 79% carpet coverage rather than the required 80%.
2) The quality of services received for the dues and fees we pay. In my conversations with residents, significant gaps exist between the service levels you expect and the levels you receive. Some examples I heard from you include:
Bullet  Responsiveness of Parkfairfax staff in processing applications for renovations;
Bullet  Availability of maintenance and administrative staff during hours when residents are actually home (e.g., weekends, before work hours, after work hours).
Bullet  Number of services performed by maintenance staff.
Bullet  Overall upkeep of common areas and grounds.
Bullet  Need for more pet friendly neighborhood (e.g., poop receptacles).
Our quality of life, the value of our homes, and the quality of the services we receive in exchange for the significant monthly dues we pay can all be significantly improved if we stand together and demand less scrutiny on us, the residents, and more accountability on how our dues are being spent.
At 30 years old, why am I qualified to represent and demand more for you? The answer is Leadership, team and community building skills, and professional expertise in governance, process improvement, and service quality management.
Please stand with me and demand a change. Without new voices on the Board, the practice of raising your dues by 3-4% annually will continue without any increase in the quality of services you receive. This despite the fact we are in a deflationionary economy where most of us have received no pay raises for many years! Remember, this is our neighborhood. We have a right to expect more! I will demand more for you!
