ANSWER

Thank you so much for your prayer request. Since you submitted this through our Q&A I'm assuming you were ok with it being posted here, especially since I have no email address to reply to your situation.  I realize that you did not per say have a question, but considering your situation I would like to give you a few thoughts to consider and some words of encouragement from our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

It will be hard to address some of the issues since I do not have enough information on what exactly happened and why it happened. However, I can still address other issues without having all the information. The one that hits me right off the top is your overwhelming, "thoughts of suicide".

The urge to "just end it" can be very tempting to someone who feels that there is no answer to his or her problems. Suicidal thoughts occur when a person feels that the situation that they face has no hope, and the only way out is death. In this case, death is seen as the escape.

Before you decide that suicide is the solution, I would ask for you to consider the matter carefully with an open mind and heart, and read this in full. Once you end your life, there is no chance to reverse the decision, no way to fix it. There is no room for mistakes. In light of that, let us take a close look at this issue.

You are faced with a situation right now that is extremely hard to endure. You are thinking about taking your own life and therefore it is probably very difficult for you to believe that God loves and cares for you. However, think about this, …could it be that the Lord Himself has led you here, to this very site? There is hope, and the very fact that you are here and asked for prayer shows that you seek it. Since you have already received Jesus as your Savior, that tells me that at one point you saw the hope and love found in Christ. God's love for you has not changed, as difficult as it is to believe right now, God loves you with a very real and powerful love. 1 John 3:1 Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God! John 3:16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

Now as I'm sure you know, the biggest choice that ANY person will ever make in their life is whether to accept or reject Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. The relationship that He desires with us makes all the difference in our lives. HE is the solution, not taking your own life. Jesus Christ is the solution to EVERYTHING. He died to pay the price for our sins, so that we may have an eternal relationship with God the Father. He died to give us the HOPE of SALVATION (Romans Chapter 8). Jesus Christ IS our HOPE! Remember that when you gave your life to Christ, you no longer have to face this world alone. God promised us that He would never leave our side. Hebrews 13:5 For He Himself has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”   Deut. 31:6  6Be strong and of good courage, ....... for the LORD your God, He is the One who goes with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you.” Matthew 28: 20  (Jesus said) 20......and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”

Now, being Christian does not mean we will never face trials or hardships. . However, the bible promises us that God will not let us be tempted beyond what we can bear. 1Corinthians 10:13 No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.  Christians suffer, yes. However, it's when we doubt God and lack faith and trust that He's in control that we look for other options such as suicide. Satan fills our heads with thoughts that God cannot help or that God has left us, but we must resist these thoughts. James 4:7 7Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.

One of the best examples in the Bible is a man named Job. Job was a man who loved God and followed His commandments. However, Job was also a man who suffered severely and wished his life would end and that he never been born as a result of his sufferings.  (Job lost all his possessions: Job 1:13-17)  (Job lost his family: Job 1:18-19)  (Job lost his health: Job 2:7)

Needless to say, Job wanted to die. He wished that God would just erase his very existence (Job chapter 3). So, why did a servant of God, like Job, suffer? The Bible reveals that it was Satan, who wanted to afflict pain and grief on Job. God allowed Job to be tested but we also see that God put limits on what Satan could do to Job. Job suffered greatly, but he continued to stand on God's word and His ways. Job never gave into Satan's attempt to make Job curse God. In the end, Job gave God all the glory and God blessed Job with MORE than he had before.

Another example is Elijah, one of the most well known prophets in the Old Testament. He too asked God to take his life. 1 Kings 19:4 But he himself went a day’s journey into the wilderness, and came and sat down under a broom tree. And he prayed that he might die, and said, "It is enough! Now, LORD, take my life, for I am no better than my fathers!"

Job and Elijah are not the only ones to face loss, pain, and grief. All through the Bible, there are examples of God's people facing extreme trials.

Joseph was put into jail for a lie told by his master's wife: Genesis 39:7-20

Jeremiah was beaten and put into prison for speaking God's message: Jeremiah 37:15-17

John The Baptist was put into jail and decapitated (head cut off) for preaching truth: Matthew 14:1-12

The Apostles and Christians were put into jail and beaten several times. Acts 5:16-20 - Acts 8:3 - Acts 16:23-40

Stephen was killed for simply being a Christian Acts 8:1-3

James the brother of John was put to death with a sword for simply being a Christian. Acts 12:1-7

Paul was homeless, naked, hungry, beaten and put into jail several times for preaching. 1Corithians 4:11-13

Point is, as Christians we may suffer hardships at times. Sometimes suffering is used by God to teach us perseverance and to perfect our faith. Sometimes, it's from bad choices we make outside of God's will. Etc.. No matter what the reason is, we must never think that God has abandoned us. Even when it's our mistake.. God will still be there to pick us up and help us through the hard times. There is nothing, which can separate us from God's love. Romans 8:37- 39 37Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. 38For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, 39nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

We are not alone in suffering, but suicide is not the answer we seek. Notice, in each case when certain men of God got to a point of feeling hopeless, they never once decide to take their life into their own hands.. They may have thought death would be better, but only if God took their life, not by their own action. See, in times of hopelessness they turned to God for help and chose to leave it in His hands.

The reality is, there is no problem too big for Jesus Christ to handle. Remember, Jesus Christ suffered too. He endured pain, loss, grief, and hardship, which we can only imagine. Therefore, He understands our sufferings. He is able to comfort us in our suffering. Hebrews 2:18 For in that He Himself has suffered, being tempted, He is able to aid those who are tempted.

Matthew 11:28-30  (Jesus said) "Come to Me, all [you] who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.  29  "Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.  30  "For My yoke [is] easy and My burden is light."  Furthermore, when we don't have the strength within ourselves to go on, we can lean on Jesus Christ for the strength we need.  2 Corinthians 12:9 9And He [Jesus] said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.”

Now having said all this, I would encourage you to find a Church or a group of believers in your city/neighborhood that you could meet and fellowship with. Furthermore, I would also encourage you to join an organization like AA, which can help you in your struggle with alcohol. Between these two, you can get the help, encouragement, and relief you need. No one should be alone in his or her struggles. We as Christians are to be there for one another helping each other through struggles that we face. John 13:34;35 Jesus said: 34A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another. 35By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.”  2 Corinthians 1:3;4 3Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, 4who comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. 1 Thessalonians 5:11  11Therefore comfort each other and edify one another, just as you also are doing.  Now, do not be ashamed to share with local brothers and sisters in Christ. I guarantee they too have faced hard times and have struggles of their own.. We all do.

In closing,

My prayers are with you.. If you would like to talk to us more or you need help finding a church or organization in your city/neighborhood, we here at T.R.M. would love to talk to you. Click here for contact Information: CONTACT.  We will keep your information confidential and private.  At very least we would like to hear from you again to know how you're doing.

My hope is that you will walk away from this with two things 1)An understanding of how special you are in the eyes of God. He knows your pain, He knows your struggles, and He wants to give you His peace that surpasses all understanding. Draw close to God- James 4:8  8Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.  2) To seek out fellow believers who can give you the support that everybody needs.

May God keep you safe and guide you according to His will. May His love pour out on you and may you know His presence in your life.

In CHRIST, Dave

P.S. Remember, you are a child of God Almighty (1 John 3:2).
