First let me say, I’m thrilled to see that you want to work towards getting off the street. There are many people who are on the street because they feel there is no hope for them, but in Christ there is always hope.. There is no situation too hard or difficult for God. Hebrews 10:23 Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful.
As for your question, it’s hard to give a detailed response because I do not have enough information, such as your location.. Therefore, I’m unable to give you a list of shelters in your area. What I can say is, almost anywhere you go within the U.S. there are shelters that are available to those who are homeless. Many of these shelters offer programs that focus on getting people the job training and housing they’ll need to get off the street. You can look for a listing of Shelters in your local Phone Book (Yellow Pages, Yellow Book, etc..). They are usually listed in a section called Human Services that can be found in the blue section of the phone book. In addition, most public libraries have a listing of local shelters/programs that can be found in their Resource Guide: Social/Homeless Services. Also, you can check the Internet for shelters in you area. Simply type in homeless shelters and (your city). By these few resources you should have no trouble finding local organizations that can help you.
