-School Once upon a midday cheery; as I pondered sad and dreary On the work so tired and used It makes me cold and quite confused I thought to myself, why am I here? What am I learning? Why do I stare? As I look out the windows Through the bars of my prison I see life growing, barely, bravely In the tree, green and orange Rustling silently outside my reach What is the wisdom? Coming here. Trapped in a cage Why volunteer to be caged inside? And never see what’s really happening beyond my reach? The crossed branches tangled, as if in lies The single leaf falling through the orange of the sun If I could only… only leave To feel the sun on my sleeve To feel the leaf just falling Calling, calling, always calling Calling me to come and see The leaf, the tree The sun, the grass The shade, the warmth Oh… To be free!
