Rustu's Press Conference:

Turkish international Rustu Recber answered press questions following this morning's training session and gave his opinions on the coming season.

Rustu said the team has "big targets" for the Champions League and added: "We want to get rid of the bad luck we had last season. We aim to go as far as we can. Of course, there's also the league."

Rustu continued with comments on the Champions League 3rd Round Qualifier against Feyenoord and said: "Our opponent is the UEFA Cup champion. They're a strong team but every team can be beaten. As the players we need to believe in it and progress from this round."

The level headed keeper evaluated the squad and said it now has "experience and knowledge" after last season's Champions League campaign. Rustu said: "We have the power to succeed from the group stages. Our first aim is to pass the qualifier. It's going to be a very busy first week with the league opener against Trabzonspor and the Champions League. But we have a big squad and everyone is capable of stepping in. The Trabzonspor game is important start from a league point of view."

Undoubtedly Rustu would be asked about transfers and his opinions on staying at Fenerbahce. This was the case and Rustu once again stated his clear intentions to stay at Fenerbahce. "I said before the World Cup that whatever the case I will be playing at Fenerbahce for another season, refusing the offers that came to me. It might be the case that I'll stay at Fenerbahce after this season. Making this decision wasn't a risk for me. I could have completed a transfer before or after the World Cup but I thought that there was a job half done here. In the European platform in particular there's things we need to do as Fenerbahce. That's why I stayed."

Rustu was also asked to comment on his new teammate Ariel Ortega in the light of recent pictures of him at a night club: "They're exaggerating Ortega's behaviour. Players are in a comfortable atmosphere abroad. Ortega is used to that so he's displaying the same comfort in Turkey. Every person needs to go out and have fun. If yourselves and us help, this star could hugely benefit us. We need to be beside Ortega."

One of the World Cup memories for people across the world was Rustu's image in games, with paint under his eyes. Rustu was asked for an explanation into it: "I could do the same this season. The floodlights really effect us keepers especially. I did this before too. It's not just a matter of style but it's to do with the disturbance to my eyes, I have to do it."
