Rustu in All-Star World Cup Team

 

    World Cup Officials announced the 16-man World Cup all-star team to a world with great expectations on Thursday, 27 June.  Turkey boasted with 3 of their stars in the team roster.  The players were undoubtedly Hasan Sas, Alpay Ozalan, and ofcourse Rustu Recber.  Coincidentally, they were the three key players in Turkey's unfortunate 1-0 loss to Brazil in a semi-final of high quality.  Also, in the article, there is a poll for best goalie, defender etc.  Rustu is way ahead of his competitors in the poll with a whopping 51.1 % to the only rival being Oliver Kahn at 28.44 %.  To read the article about all the players in the all-star squad, click here06/28/02.

Rustu to Manchester United?

 

    After Rustu's over-par performances in the World Cup, both Arsenal and Manchester United seem to have a "crush" on Rustu.  At a modest 6 million pound price tag, both teams look far from giving up on the talented keeper.  Manchester United's race began earlier though with Sir Alex Ferguson dispatching his spies to watch Rustu in the Brazil-Turkey match back at the beginning of the World Cup.  For more info click here06/5/2002.
