~I awake to the sounds of blaster fire and screams, I can hear the hum of a lightsaber and I sense that Anakin is near. So it is then, he has returned to take my life.~

Obi Wan cowers where he is, his wounds throbbing as though they're on fire. He knows Anakin will kill him, and yet he cannot stand to simply lie here and wait for it to happen. He glances around the mostly-bare room and spots a small pile of blankets and pillows in the corner.

He crawls over to them and buries himself beneath the blankets; with any luck it would take Anakin a while to find him. Then perhaps he might be comfortable for at least a few moments before the end. He knows this is cowardly, but truthfully he no longer cares. He no longer has a reason to be brave or powerful, Anakin had been his reason.

Anakin stalks into the building, his lightsaber still drawn and sweat on his brow. He had killed all the clones guarding the entrance to this building. Padme had indeed survived, Obi Wan had saved her. She told him that she'd been attacked by a clone with a lightsaber, and now Anakin wanted answers. The clones would not give them to him, so he had killed them. Perhaps Obi Wan would have some answers, that is, IF he could find him. He'd told him to stay here, and yet he cannot see him anywhere.

He grumbles and uses the force to locate his former-master, finding him huddled in a pile of blankets and pillows. He sighs softly to himself, sensing Obi Wan's fear and pain. He realizes suddenly that he had caused this. The recent events come flooding back to him like a lost memory and a single tear slips down his cheek. He puts his lightsaber away, dropping to one knee beside the trembling pile of material.

Reaching out to him, he lays his hand on what he assumes is Obi Wan's head, "Shhh, don't be afraid. I'm sorry, please, I, I should've listened to you. I can't believe I." He trails off, shaking his head.

Obi Wan opens his eyes, the fear melting away, a sense of hope now finally returning to him, "Anakin?" He slowly moves the blankets off of his head and gazes up at Anakin through his one good eye, tears now streaming down his face, "Anakin please, please help me."

Anakin gasps as he sees just how much damage he'd done. Obi Wan's eye was truly ruined, there would be little hope of him ever being able to see out of it again, and the deep gash across his face would leave a nasty scar. He reaches out to him, almost unable to believe what he'd done. He gently cups his cheek against his palm and leans forward, pressing his lips to Obi Wan's for one brief moment, tugging him into his arms, just trying to convey all of his sorrow and love in this one action.

Obi Wan trembles against him as he's kissed and held, in more pain than he'd ever been in, and yet, his heart was filling with hope again. Anakin does still love him, and that's all that matters to him. He would forgive him anything now.

Holding Obi Wan against him, Anakin slowly gets to his feet and lifts his wounded lover into his arms, closing his eyes for one brief moment, wishing the memories of what he'd said and done to him would just go away. "I love you Obi Wan. I'm sorry, I know no apology can make up for what I've done, but I do deeply regret my actions." He gives him a reassuring hug and carries him out of this place, stepping over the dead bodies of clones and carrying Obi Wan down the street to the care-center he'd taken Padme to.

"You'll be alright Obi Wan. I know you will, you will. I'm so sorry."

"Anakin, you've already apologized, I'll be fine," He pauses for a moment and sighs, "Eventually."

Anakin exhales and nods, then lays him down on a bed near Padme, who was now sleeping.

Several of the greenish humanoid creatures, that seemed to be the predominant species of this planet, rush forward to tend to Obi Wan's wounds. They dab salves on all of his burn wounds, making him wince as they even rub it into his eye. "I sure hope they know what they're doing, and it'd better be worth the pain!"

Anakin can't help but smile slightly at this, "They know what they're doing. Just relax Master."

Obi Wan looks obviously shocked, Anakin had not called him Master, other than mockingly, since he'd turned to the Dark Side, but he wasn't going to point this out. "Alright, I trust your judgment Anakin." He sighs, simply focusing on keeping himself still as they continue to dab on the unpleasant-smelling goop.

When they finish their work they speak to Anakin in a series of whirs and clicks which he seems to understand. He nods and they quickly leave the room, returning with bandages and extra blankets. They then simply leave the room again.

Obi Wan gazes after them questioningly for a moment, then looks to Anakin, for an explanation.

"They want me to put on the bandages. Their people believe that the bandaging of any wound should be done by one who loves the one who is injured."

"Oh, I see." His voice cracks slightly and he sighs, the deep sadness seeming to catch up with him again, "And, do you love me Anakin? Truly?"

Anakin gazes at him for a moment and nods, picking up the bandages and walking over to him, "Of course I do. What kind of a question is that?"

"There aren't different kinds of questions Anakin, questions come from uncertainty, and I've come to doubt that you love me fully. If you did, why would you kill me, when all I wanted to do was help you? All I've ever wanted is to help you. I gave up everything for you, more than once. I cannot understand why you would do such things to me."

"Obi Wan, I thought you had killed Padme!"

"And I told you I hadn't! You wouldn't believe me! You NEVER believe me! You've never listened to me!"

"I know! I know ok?!" He twists the bandage material in his hands and shakes his head, "I've been a fool Obi Wan, but starting now, that's going to change. I love you, I trust you, I won't kill you."

Obi Wan takes a deep breath and nods slowly, "Alright, I forgive you. I always have."

"I know, maybe sometimes you shouldn't, but I'm glad you do." He sits down on the bed beside him, wrapping the bandage around his head at an angle so that it covers the entire wound, including his eye. He then secures it there and gets out another strip of material, which he begins wrapping around his chest. "I know now what happened. You were only trying to help, and you did Obi Wan. You saved Padme's life, but I, I'm just so confused!"

He finishes wrapping Obi Wan's chest and leans back, looking lost. "I just don't know anymore. The clones attacked Padme, but I can't understand why. They wouldn't do that without a direct order, and there are very few people in the position to be giving them orders, but Lord Palpatine, surely he wouldn't do this."

"Surely? Anakin, he's evil, there's nothing he would not do!"

"But he promised to help me save Padme's life! Why would he kill her?! Why Obi Wan?!"

"Why would I kill her? You didn't find that one so hard to believe, and who told you I was here to kill her in the first place Anakin?"

Anakin stares down at the floor and shakes his head, it just didn't add up, something was definitely out-of-place here, and all the clues were pointing more and more to his new master and lifelong friend. "I just, I need time to think about this."

Obi Wan nods, "I understand, you must trust your feelings Anakin. Use the force, seek the truth, and it will not let you down."

"I know, I must meditate on this, try to see what I cannot see. Something is wrong, and it continues to elude me. This power that I treasured so much, it has turned out to be nothing but pain for me, and it was not this power that saved Padme, it was you. I only hope that the baby is alright. I must ask Padme when she wakes up, let me know will you? I'm going to meditate for awhile."

He nods slowly and smiles, "If I am awake myself I shall let you know."

"Very well Obi Wan. Get some rest my love. I will see you when you wake up, and this time I will be here, I promise." He smiles and moves to the only other bed in the room, sitting down on it and crossing his legs. He closes his eyes and begins to meditate.

Obi Wan watches him for a while, then begins to drift off to sleep.

~There is a new hope now. Anakin has finally come to his senses. I can only hope that the force will lead him to the truth as he meditates. He must discover that Palpatine is truly evil and plotting to kill both Padme and I. For now, I must rest, and continue to dream of a better tomorrow, a tomorrow spent in my lover's arms, remembering what led me down this path to begin with.~
