Posey Chapel and Cemetery

The Story: A century and a half ago the church was burnt down and the preacher hung himself from a tree as you enter the gate. At night you can see the activity under the pavilion that is where the chapel once stood. Red eyes can be seen and a red light of some sort can be seen moving through the woods. Also many orbs are seen in this area, you may also hear a woman singing and someone playing a guitar in the background.

Location: East of Fail Rd. on 1000 N. in Laporte, Indiana

Directions: From Hwy 20 turn North onto Fail Rd. (it will be at a stoplight). Go down Fail Rd. for about 4 miles. You will come to a stop sign and see Heston Bar on the Northeast corner. Turn East and go about 2 miles and you will see the cemetery on the North side of the road.

We visited Posey Chapel on December 13, 2002. The temperature was about 30 with cloudy skies and it was extremely windy there. When we got there we took some time to look around. We found the tree that supposedly is where not only a priest hung himself, but also where the KKK hung people. It was a pine tree that was struck by lightning. While looking at the tree we all heard noise on the ground. It was the sound of leaves crunching, but it wasn't coming from any of us and there were no animals on the ground. Another thing that was really weird was that the battery on the camera that we were using suddenly died. We tried to turn the camera on the next day and it worked fine and has worked fine ever since. As for the red light and the music we didn't see or hear any of that. After reviewing the pictures we didn't find anything out of the ordinary, which really surprised us. We'll have to check this one out again on a later Laporte trip.

Investigation Number 2

We went back to Posey Chapel on June 16, 2003.  The temperature was in the 60's with very little wind.  The time was 11:30 p.m.  After our fist trip we were thinking maybe these ghosts just didn't want to come out on our first visit.  It was rather cold that day.  So we decided that on a nice warm June night we would go give it another try.  This time we got pretty much the same results.  Nothing to spectacular especially considering this is supposed to be one of the most haunted places around.  We are pretty sure this will be our last visit to Posey for some time, since we haven't gotten anything good and it's so far out in the middle of nowhere.

There's a bright orb on the bottom right side.  We are pretty sure it wasn't a light since all that is out there is just trees.

This is a picture of the tree the KKK used to hang people.

Investigation Number 3

We made another trip out to Posey Chapel on November 18, 2004.  We wanted to make another trip out here to find if this place really is one of the most haunted places in Northwest Indiana.  To see our findings, check out our video.
